The Chicago Cubs first baseman has been near the top of the National League leaders in the Triple Crown categories for much of the season. He's having an unbelievable year, even though the Cubs are struggling. Another is Chicago White Sox shortstop Carlos Guillen, who leads the AL in batting (.387). Last year, he was having a fantastic season before he got injured, and he's off to a great start this year. Guillen is moving toward the forefront among major-league shortstops. Miguel Cabrera of the Florida Marlins is another up-and-comer. Three years from now, when we discuss the topic of baseball's best hitters, I expect Cabrera to be in the mix – as one of the best pure hitters and power hitters. Cabrera keeps getting better each year. Once the Marlins settle on a position for him, he'll be able to focus even more at the plate. Meanwhile, Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer got off to a slow start, but lately he's been swinging the bat well. He'll be a star for a longtime. I suppose he only thinks there's one Guillen in baseball.
