May 12, 200520 yr I'm thinking there is little to no chance the game is going to be played tonight if the rain keeps up the way it is. Does anyone know the earliest they will call the game and how I would be able to find out when/if they do?
May 12, 200520 yr Unless there is some huge line of storms that looks like it will never end, they aren't calling the game until after its start time at very least. Usually you are talking 9 or 10 o clock though. My guess is unless it rains for hours during the time of the game, they will play. Comiskey is the best designed field in baseball when it comes to drainage. Even if it rains hard all day long, the field will be playable.

Yea, I know the field drains very well, just looking at the radars and stuff the rain is supposed to be relentless over the next 48 hours. I'm going to brave the storm and get my ass out there I suppose, although I know it will be a fierce, drunken battle with mother nature.

That's how I would look at it. And if its light rain, they will play on.
May 12, 200520 yr I am going tomorrow and I say screw the rain... its only going to be a 2 hr game anyway with Buehrle out there anyway...
May 12, 200520 yr The O's don't have a trip planned back here.. but if it's bed enough they may re-schedule it to be played in Baltimore at the end of July. But Mike is right.. they'll wait as long at 10pm to call it. I doubt it will be called. The rain looks like it will be consistant.. but light.
May 12, 200520 yr there was a huge lightning storm in the morning yesterday and cubs still played later on... les see if its still raining at 2:00-3:00 before getting worried.
May 12, 200520 yr I know they can't start the game if it is raining at game time. But yes, if there is some kind of window, they will play. The weather screws us again.

The weather screws us again. Sounds like someone must just be raining on your parade, b/c IIRC... We havent exactly been plagued with rain delays this year...so we were due. Plus there is always a risk of rain when I'm goin to the game, so it will be fine

May 12, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Good grief.. 11 hours to game time and you've called the game already..? No I am going Sat and Sun, I was just hoping we could get a good walk up today, but with rain, we won't.
May 12, 200520 yr Regardless of how many people actually show up, they have a lot of tickets sold for tonight's game, and will do anything possible to get the game in. If it does get called, it would probably be very late tonight.
May 12, 200520 yr Luckily the cell is not designed like the urinal up north, and it can actually drain the water, if there is no lightning , they will play

May 12, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ May 12, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) There are 26K+ tickets sold for today... not "good" enough for you..? As of the start of the game yesterday John and Ed said there were 107,000 tickets sold for the whole series. I do understand what he is saying though, it would be nice to push that to about 120,000 for the series and average 30K for the long weekend. Every seat we can sell now, is money towards a deal line deal, or a payroll increase in 2k6.
May 12, 200520 yr There are 26K+ tickets sold for today... not "good" enough for you..? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would prefer 38k but this weather is not conducive to day of game walk up sales. It's a little brighter sky in Naperville right now ... but not much. What can ya do though, the weather is the weather. If people want to go, they'll go. It would be great if it were 72 and sunny, but that's Chicago.

Supposedly 29K+ for tomorrow night and 33K+ for Saturday (can't find a # for Sunday yet)... if it's anywhere near Fri & Sat then we'll hit 120K for the series easy.

Wow, those are way up from yesterday. During the broadcast they said Friday was at 26.5k and Saturday was at 30.5k. If we get anykind of weather, we might be looking at a sell out or two.

I know several folks here at work were waiting on buying tickets depending on if they got swept or not.

If it does get called, it would probably be very late tonight. Of course itw ould be nice if it were sunny. You'd get more walk up sales and near sellout crowds. Still, weather is something you can't control and they have quite a few tickets sold for the whole series. Hopefully nothing gets postponed cause then its going to be a doubledip on Saturday or Sunday (with the O's not coming back into town again). Lets go Sox, show em why were the best in the bigs

Also, the more people that are at the park, the less the attendance talk is an issue. Would rather hear about the team, than the attendance.
