May 31, 200520 yr is 14-12 so once we start playing the AL Central teams again we should run away with the divison
May 31, 200520 yr I agree. Minnesota is only 14-11 within the Central (13-6 against the bottom feeders). Interstingly, St. Louis is only 13-13 outside the NL Central.
May 31, 200520 yr We aren't running away with anything. We play the Twins 13 times in August and September. Those games will likely decide the division. Edited May 31, 200520 yr by Jabroni

August and September decide the season for us. We play the Yanks along with Boston and Minnesota all in a row for a few weeks. Definetly our defining moment...hopefully by then Kenny will have made a trade for a big bat

Exactly. They're going to loiter around 3-5 games back of us until things matter. Hopefully this time around we still can find a way to beat them instead of having a meltdown against them like we did last season. Edited May 31, 200520 yr by NUKE_CLEVELAND

The Twins will be close enough to us to take us over all year if we have a long losing streak.
May 31, 200520 yr Hopefully those 4 East teams beat up on eachother, so the Wild Card does indeed come out of the central.
May 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(Be Good @ May 30, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Hopefully those 4 East teams beat up on eachother, so the Wild Card does indeed come out of the central. For that to happen...we're going to have to find a few teams outside our division to actually beat up on. We can't go losing series to teams like Oakland and Tampa Bay while teams like Minnesota, Boston, Baltimore, and NY fatten up on those 2.

I agree 100%. One comforting thing is that even with the mediocre ball the Sox have been playing lately, the Twins haven't been doing anything worth noting either. But we all know the Twins play their best ball down the stretch, and with a younger team than previous years, this probably will be more so, as many of these guys get comfortable with their roles.
May 31, 200520 yr I don't have numbers to support it...but if you win in your division, and play .500 outside of it, you will be in good shape.
May 31, 200520 yr So, if/when we make the post season and have to face teams not in the Central......then?
