Texas and Anaheim are in the top five of AL teams. * Sure, the team lost a game it shouldn't have (Contreras/McPherson), but we also stole one from Zambrano and we got one from Colon too. * Look at the pitching we faced: Maddux, Zambrano, Prior, E. Santana (who threw like the other Santana that night) Colon, Washburn, Lackey (who owns the Sox in his career) and then faced a red hot Young, Park (at Tex, where he's dominant) and then Washburn again. Not a slouch matchup in the mix. Looking ahead to June, that will be a true indication of how this team does. We have only 9 games on the road, 5 days off, and we are playing many weak teams. If we don't win at least 16 or 17 games in June, then I'll be concerned.

May 31, 200520 yr yeah this was probably the hardest stretch of games we will have until that one, but I think we didnt do 2 bad. Especially if we can win these next 2 against the angels or at least 1.

We didn't just win those games we just annihilated them during that stretch. I think we put up double digits like 4-5 times and scored 17 on the Spankees once if memory serves. AHHH THE MEMORIES!!!

If I'm not mistaken, the Sox swept both of those series with the Indians & Yankees. When they returned home the following Monday or Tuesday, they got like a 3 minute standing ovation from the crowd.
May 31, 200520 yr I don't buy into this whole theory that the bats will all of a sudden warm up. I think it's a problem. We better get a huge lead before we get to that stretch. And the Sox this year have been making bad/average pitchers look like Cy Young(Westbrook, E Santana to name a couple).

Yes, the hitting is due to heat up, but the pitching is even more due to cool down.

I'm very concerned about the Sox hitters. Three or four of them look absolutely clueless out there. If the Sox make the playoffs, the starters are going to have to sustain their excellence all through the year.

The Twins have nto faced these teams either and if they are playing one another in this mix, it is tough for all four teams.

May 31, 200520 yr Those two weeks were something that I didn't experience. My parents went on vacation those two weeks and made me and my cibs stay with my grandma in northern michigan. She didn't have a computer and wouldn't let me watch sports, she would watch CNN allll day, everyday. But the night of the standing ovation, I did get to see that before my grandma came home from the store and quickly changed the channel.
May 31, 200520 yr I didnt have cable until the begining of this season so I missed a lot b4... to make it worse the only tickets my dad would get for the family were cub ones....But now cable is mine and i actually went to a couple games last year.
