June 7, 200520 yr Alright guys, quick question: As many of you know, I'm head-over-heels for the NFL draft, as I spend countless hours with my notebook, online, etc. That said, I'm very familiar with consensus picks and such. I know Justin Upton is the consensus #1 as he has been compared to such can't-miss guys like ARod, Griffey, etc, but are there a consensus 2-5 or 2-10 this year? I'm really green when it comes to the MLB draft; what names am I going to look out for?

I'm really green when it comes to the MLB draft; what names am I going to look out for? The Mariners could take any of 3 or 4 guys at #3, it's not clear yet. Signability starts playing a role in the 3-10 slots moreso, IMO, than the top 2 (generally)
June 7, 200520 yr 2-5: Gordon and Pelfrey The rest depend on Boras, but those guys are the sure bets.
June 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) ok, anyone have the video working? Do you have to have an MLBtv subscription? I got the video. It's free.
June 7, 200520 yr Randar, I'm not having any problems with the MLB.tv, but I suggest using the MLB-radio, 'cause I don't think you hear the conference call with MLB.tv. Hearing Tommy LaSorda every year brings a smile to my face.
June 7, 200520 yr I've found that the video feed is horrible due to the people they have on there. I just listen in to the conference call and go from there.
June 7, 200520 yr I'd say use the radio after the first round. It's more fun to watch the video cuz they know what each pick means. Dumbs it down for you.
June 7, 200520 yr The sad thing about today is, I have finals. Spanish at 2:00 and have barely studied, thanks to the draft.
June 7, 200520 yr Will one poster who's listening post the 1st round as it goes along? I would do it but I'm in the midst of a conference call. Thank you!
June 7, 200520 yr 30 seconds between picks, instead of the customary 1 as per the last few years lol. Shouldn't be too long until the Sox pick.
June 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Will one poster who's listening post the 1st round as it goes along? I would do it but I'm in the midst of a conference call. Thank you! I'll see what I can do. I'll have a cumulative post after the first round with every pick.
June 7, 200520 yr Yeah, Jim, I'll do my best. Before it starts -- lots of people like Cliff Robinson, the UofI catcher, going to the Sox in round four or five? Can anyone talk about him a little bit? Good defensively? Bad? Power guy? Plate discipline?
June 7, 200520 yr I'll see what I can do. I'll have a cumulative post after the first round with every pick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Much appreciated, thanks again. Let's hope the White Sox get a good one here.
June 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) lmao, Rasheed McCants now is the cousin of Maybin. Good to know I'm not the only one who said to myself, "It's pronounced, Rash-ahd."
June 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I'll see what I can do. I'll have a cumulative post after the first round with every pick. Let's just do a thread for the first round, where one person (you, if you want to) updates who gets drafted. No commentary or anything, just updates.
June 7, 200520 yr David Schuster on the Score said they might take Broadway from TCU. Anybody know anything about him?
June 7, 200520 yr David Schuster on the Score said they might take Broadway from TCU. Anybody know anything about him? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wedge, read the thread, there's all kinds of info about Broadway.
June 7, 200520 yr QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Yeah, Jim, I'll do my best. Plate discipline? Good defensive catcher.
June 7, 200520 yr Dbacks should already have their pick in. Has it not started yet? Fred Claire is one guy I'll actually listen to, he was a darn good GM with the Dodgers. Interestingly they are talking Clement at #3 to the Mariners. I'd be thrilled if that happened cause it could send Troy out of the top 10.
