June 8, 200520 yr My God, the Sox might be able to fill Bristol or Great Falls up with strictly JC or CC players after this.
June 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) My God, the Sox might be able to fill Bristol or Great Falls up with strictly JC or CC players after this. It should bode well for their record.
June 8, 200520 yr Any relation to Eli? Nope, but he has a brother Chris that is supposed to be a 1st round pick next year.
June 8, 200520 yr Lots of these junior college picks might be draft and follows. Again, not a bad approach. It gives the Sox another 12 months to monitor a player's progress.
June 8, 200520 yr Well as Mark Buehrle and Mike Piazza taught us, some of the best players come out of Day 2.
June 8, 200520 yr White Sox select...Robert La Fromboise? Another JC P Edited June 8, 200520 yr by WHarris1
June 8, 200520 yr Author I just realized that Isreal Chirino and Christian Marrero both went to the same HS that Gio went to, Monsignor Pace. I remember them being a national power. Chirino went there a few years ago and Marrero was on the team with Gio last year.
June 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) Wow, Sox pick a guy and two minutes later there's his picture in the thread. And Cerb already has his phone number
June 8, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) And Cerb already has his phone number No, no, no. You got it all mixed up. Heads is the stalker. Cerb just does the dirty work.
June 8, 200520 yr It's Joshua Morgan, and here be his stats, LOTS of power: http://www.southalabama.edu/athletics/base...s/Teamcume.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting to see that this guy was a catcher in high school.
June 8, 200520 yr Author Round 25: Andrew Beatty, LHP, West Aurora HS Local kid to the Sox. MLB.com scouting report: Medium, athletic frame. Broad shoulders. Arm works easy. Strong lower half. Good body. Maintains arm speed w/occassional good depth, deception circle change. Effective to LHH and RHH. Around plate w/3 pitches from wind-up.
June 8, 200520 yr Author Another JC pitcher. Round 26: Anthony Carter, RHP, Georgia Perimeter CC Body similar to Kevin Brown. Athletic RHP w/quick, strong arm. FB arm side run, occassional cut life. Establishes FB, likes to work inside. Late, sharp break slider w/some tilt. Feel for straight change. Around plate w/all pitches. Arm strength w/projectable body. Edited June 8, 200520 yr by danman31
June 8, 200520 yr Author Here's the catcher a lot had been waiting for: Round 27: Daniel Jordan, C, Broward CC (again) He's a 6 ft 190 lb righty.
June 8, 200520 yr Since when did we change into the Atlanta Braves? Man, talk about stockpiling pitchers! Another question for the Sox Draft Experts...besides the obvious answer (you can never have too much good pitching), why are the Sox not concentrating on more position players in the earlier rounds, and seem to be just concentrating on the pitchers? Thanks.
June 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) Keith, they did what you wanted, pick a high profile guy who will be an extremely tough sign. Let's hope it works out for the Sox. Not a bad strategy with a 19th round pick. I can't help it... Does he have the same upside and the same promise as Joe Borchard? Sorry couldn't help it. We got burned on giving borchard big money, we won't chase this guy.
June 8, 200520 yr QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Damn they are going crazy with all these pitchers.... Kind of makes you think they will trade some pitchers this year. These guys can backfill.
June 8, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) I can't help it... Does he have the same upside and the same promise as Joe Borchard? Sorry couldn't help it. We got burned on giving borchard big money, we won't chase this guy. They wouldn't have picked him if they weren't going to bother negotiating and offer 7 figures.
