July 27, 200520 yr I know there is a non-sox trade thread but this one is just too big to put in there http://www.prosportsdaily.com/mlb/red-sox/ Boston Herald: "The Red Sox reacted with a mixture of confusion, amusement, denial and an overall shrug of the shoulders to a report yesterday that Manny Ramirez had requested a trade. " Never gonna happen, but here's the bat we need.....Kenny do what you have to do
July 27, 200520 yr If taking on Griffey's contract was funny enough, well I'm rolling on the floor laughing about someone taking on Manny's.

July 27, 200520 yr I would seriously doubt Boston would even consider trading Manny to the Sox let alone another AL team....
July 27, 200520 yr They can keep him, his contract, and his butchers glove. he certainly moves the team back into the corpseball realm.
July 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) I'd give up an arm and a leg for him. Careful they may hold you to that... remember what they did to Dennis Leary when the Red Sawks won the WS.....

Did you see the series this past weekend. Won two games and scared the crap out me (us?) in another. He is an enigma but if pay a chunck......

July 27, 200520 yr Manny is NOT getting traded during the season. This is like the 5th time he's demanded a trade, the Red Sox put him on waivers 2 years ago and found that NOONE is interested in him and his ridiculous contract. The only possibility would be him leaving in the offseason, no way in hell he gets dealt right before the stretch run.
July 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(HSC's Biggest Fan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Did you see the series this past weekend. Won two games and scared the crap out me (us?) in another. He is an enigma but if pay a chunck...... Yeah, I saw him. Do you think if he was the centerpiece of the White Sox offense that it would score more? The Red Sox order is a tough out, top to bottom. He isnt really the featured hitter, as he would be in Chicago. Ortiz, Ramirez, Varitek and Nixon is much scarier than Rowand, Ramirez, Pierzinski and Dye, no matter how you spin it. Plus, the White Sox rely on good defense, two words that should never go in a sentence with Manny Ramirez. Pods may not be a great defensive OF, but he makes alot of plays with his speed that would skip past Ramirez on two hops. Ramirez is a GREAT hitter, but I dont think he would fit and I think corpseball would return full speed ahead.
July 27, 200520 yr QUOTE(Adam G @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Konerko and Everett? For Manny? LMAO. Just the fact that you would think Everett would ever go back to Boston is laughable. Not to mention the fact that it would make no sense for the Red Sox seeing how they would be recieving nothing of substance in return.

If that's the case we are totally screwed and should be battling KC to stay out of the cellar.

With what they have they wouldn't need Konerko. Plus Everett would not be going back to Boston. So if you're giving up that for Manny Ramirez it's not anything the Red Sox would be interested in. It's like someone saying they'll trade us a starting outfielder who isn't as good as any of the 3 we already have.

I was focused on you calling PK and CE 'nothing of substance' and what that says about what you feel about this team.

I think Everett and Konerko for us is more than enough, it would be 'nothing of substance' for the BoSox in a trade for one of the best pure hitters in the league.

He just listed the "scary" hitters in the lineup and didnt mention Konerko and Everett. So uh...keep on LYAO? Edited July 27, 200520 yr by Adam G
