I just have a feeling that some people would rather get humiliated in the regular season and heve it be over with. A Cubs fan once told me that he'd rather choose option 2 if the Cubs were in that situation and it stuck in my head. Basically, we're humiliated either way some some would say "Get it over with."

I'd take #1 because at the time they make the playoffs you don't know they are going to get swept. And having your team in the playoffs is fun.

I say leave it up, eventually some troll or someone will pick #2 but I think it serves as a reminder that we all do want the Sox to succeed despite our criticisms. A playoff berth is success compared to going home after game #162.
