October 26, 200520 yr This is getting ridiculous. Yes, tonight could be the greatest day of your life as a baseball fan. It could also be the beginning of the most tragic experience, the greatest Sox-related suffering EVER to hit you. Indeed, a suffering greater than has hit any other baseball team. There's a reason we play the games. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

October 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) Each day that passes and he is still around amazes me. But then again jabroni lasted for what seems a life time. Sometimes you need dumbasses around just so you have someone to hate. That's really all I can come up with.
October 26, 200520 yr Whenever Antonio Osuna says we are going to lose, we always win. Maybe it's a good thing?
October 26, 200520 yr I'm sorry if I was a bit graphic or blunt in the words I used, but the fact is that we have not won squat except for the Division and the Pennant. People are celebrating as if we've won something beyond that, or if we will have an easy time doing that. That's not in line with reality. If the Sox win tonight, by all means celebrate, and make threads like this. God knows I will too. But they haven't won yet. We could still easily lose this thing. Such unjustified optimism is one of my major pet peeves when it comes to baseball. Prematurely crowning themselves champions is something that other team's fans do, and I find it highly distasteful. (See 2005 Red Sox, 2004 Cubs, Yankees every year, etc.) I don't want to have to see that in my fellow Sox fans.

October 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) I'll back you on this one, Antonio. As a great philosopher once said, "It ain't over till it's over." Yeah, except for the "we have not won squat except for the division and the pennant", like that's nothing. Even if the unthinkable happens..............and at this point it would be a MONUMENTAL letdown..............I will still remember this team's successes...... OH WHO THE f*** AM I KIDDING?????? 4 losses in a row right now would be THE! WORST! THING! that would ever happen to any Chicago sports team! ....but that s*** simply ain't happenin'....

If that's the case, then what the f*** constitutes justified optimism?
