November 30, 200520 yr Yeah I think the Atlanta pitching decline will be something over a decade, if at all, not something you see right away. Farns in NY is a joke. I can't wait to see him with the bases loaded in Fenway with Big Papi up. He's mentally weak

November 30, 200520 yr QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Here is another link: http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiretap_...close_on_myers/ Also mentions Myers being close to signing with the Yanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I thought I read Torre said the Myers signing was BS.
December 1, 200520 yr http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...e2005&fext=.jsp Farnsworth expected to join Yankees Right-hander to ink three-year deal worth about $17M NEW YORK -- Although the Yankees have not made an announcement, Kyle Farnsworth appears to be headed for the Bronx -- possibly as early as Thursday. Farnsworth's agent informed the Braves that the right-hander would not return to Atlanta as its closer, instead signing with the Yankees to serve as Mariano Rivera's setup man. "We wanted him as our closer," Braves general manager John Schuerholz told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We offered a three-year deal and were prepared to stay engaged in the negotiations, but we were told that he had decided to go to New York as a setup guy." Farnsworth will ink a three-year deal worth about $17 million and take over the role that Tom Gordon has filled for the past two years. Gordon, who is also a free agent, is currently being pursued by several teams, including the Phillies and Indians. If the Yankees sign Farnsworth before Dec. 7 -- or if they wait until after that date and Atlanta offers him arbitration -- they will owe the Braves a first-round draft pick as compensation. Farnsworth, who turns 30 in April, went 1-1 with 16 saves for the Tigers and Braves last season, posting a 2.19 ERA. He struck out 87 batters in 70 innings, holding opponents to a .180 average in 72 appearances.
December 1, 200520 yr The City That Never Sleeps vs. The Guy Who Never Stops Partying I expect a horrifically hilarious year from Farnsworthless.

December 2, 200520 yr QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 07:00 AM) Apparently thsi isn't over. THe Rangers are back in it. THey should just let him go I don't know about that...any time you can make something more expensive for the Yankees it helps you in the long run (ARod), and Farnsworth might very well be a good fit in Texas. Herschiser is still there as the pitching coach, and he might very well be good enough to keep Farnsworth's pitching under control.
