December 13, 200520 yr QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) Young my prediction could lead the Minors in homers I am thinking 33-37 range. He hit 26 in Bham with a Futures game miss time the side injury which cost him 2 weeks of actual playing time then another week to get back to normal and the week + with the learning curve jump to AA to 26 homers in a cave and he was cheated a month of playing time. This season no learning curve and a extreme hitters park could easily justify 7 to 11 more homers. i'm having trouble understanding. maybe some more punctuation marks would make this easier to read. thanks!

December 15, 200520 yr Tom, what about Chris Getz as Barons starting 2B-man? I mean, he had a 10/35 K/BB ratio, which is absolutely sick, so it's pretty clear he's ready for high-A. And the Sox don't seem to have much hesitance skipping guys from Kanny to Birmingham.

He's a veteran collegiate player, so you'd expect to see him do something like that in low-A. IMO, W-S for Getz and a starting middle-IF of Valido at SS and Gonzalez at 2B in BHam, IMO. (Although they could move Gonzalez to Charlotte at 2B and put Lopez at 2B in BHam as Lopez needs more AA at-bats) Edited December 15, 200520 yr by Randar68

It was close but I am thinking with Randar that he will be in Winston-Salem. Valido has short and the battle between Gonzalez, Lopez, Getz for 2nd base. I think Gonzo will have it unless the Sox's go with Lopez for more ab's

January 9, 200620 yr So Sweeney staying in AA.... Do you know if they plan to promote him to AAA like mid-season or something like that?

Mid-season promotions have everything to do with the player and how he is performing and injuries. Teams may have ideas of what they want to happen, but whether a player gets promoted or not has everything to do with how he performs.

Well yeah if he sucks they wont but what I was asking is if he plays fairly well could we expect a promotion to AAA or is the plan to keep him in AA unless he puts up crazy stats.

Ryan is coming off wrist surgery so I am assuming he will start back in Bham no need to rush him coming off surgery

The point is, there is no "organizational plan". If he's good enough and circumstances work out, then it will happen. He could end up starting in AAA. There are too many variables to know what will happen. Edited January 9, 200620 yr by Rex Hudler
January 11, 200620 yr Yeah Dave Wilder in a recent article said that they thought Fields had done enough to start 2006 in Charlotte.Fields should at least hit around what he hit in B-Ham, he just really needs to work on that plate discipline. As for Schnurstein, if he can improve defensively, I think he'll suprise some people, but I know Jason and I rate him a little higher than others (but we have our favorite prospects now don't we). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fields hit .252 with 55 walks and 142 strikeouts. Shouldn't he be repeating AA? I hope the Sox aren't rushing him just because of Crede/Boras.
January 12, 200620 yr QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 06:29 AM) Fields hit .252 with 55 walks and 142 strikeouts. Shouldn't he be repeating AA? I hope the Sox aren't rushing him just because of Crede/Boras. He also hit 27 doubles, 16 HR and had 79 RBI good for third in the league. His OBP was 90 points higher than his AVG. He hit .146 during the month of May. If he hit just .250 in that month, his season average would have jumped to .274. There is no doubt he is still learning, but unless the Sox want to hold him back for defensive reasons, I don't see the need for him to repeat AA.
January 12, 200620 yr If Fields makes a big step at Charlotte, doesn't anyone think Crede will be traded after 2006? I wonder if a Mackowiak/Fields platoon at 3B is a possibility for 2007.
January 12, 200620 yr Yeah I gotta believe in the guys who saw Josh play multiple times vs anyone who is just looking at his stats on this one. If they think he is ready, I would tend to agree with them over any statgeeks.
January 13, 200620 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 07:08 AM) Yeah I gotta believe in the guys who saw Josh play multiple times vs anyone who is just looking at his stats on this one. If they think he is ready, I would tend to agree with them over any statgeeks. Statgeeks can make decent projections, assuming they are using the right stats. Using a full season's stats to determine where a player should be playing is not a great idea. Using split stats from month to month is a better idea, and using peripheral stats(walks, K's, doubles) also helps. It does also help to see them play and see if they look ready for AAA.
