Just an idea.  I've always liked his arm.  After what Coop was able to do with Contreras last year,  I wouldn't doubt he could get Heredia back on track.  However,  I see that Heredia only pitched in 3 games last year.  He must've had a serious injury.  Forget about it if he isn't healthy.  I'm really interested to see what Kenny has up his sleeve.  Because I don't see jack out there right now.

Isn't Heredia going to start the season with a steriod suspension? I really doubt he is even being considered.

BTW, I like the idea of Dotel, alot.

bingo, i have been banging my brain on this, i have been looking at the stats and i am confuse. i am sure there is talent there and yet what has he shown.

Marte couldnt get lefties out last year. So bascially we had a single lefty out of the pen with Cotts, and I would suggest that you check out his splits. Our lefties were better against righties than they were lefties. As Cheat has said time and time again, just because he throws with his left hand doesnt make him a bullpen requirement. Lots of guys that throw the ball with their right hand, also have better splits against lefties. We didnt have a true lefty specialist last year, and lots of teams survive without one. The Angels up until this year have had a predominantly righty bullpen for a while and they have been the best in the business.

And as it has been said before the more righty/lefty options out of the pen you give Ozzie, the more you will see Cotts for a batter instead of as a setup guy. Be careful what you ask for, you may find yourselves b****ing out Ozzie for being "stupid" for buring Cotts for a batter because he has the luxury of having a second lefty out of the pen.

Haha. man you guys worry too much. If you can have three dominant pieces in a bullpen you are good to go. We have that.

Jenks - 9th

Cotts - 8th

Politte - 7th

Then you have the insurance guys. Hermanson coming in after that if he's healthy. Viz (who was pretty damn good from May on).

If we get another lefty thats great. He'll pitch to an occasionally lefty, usually not in a do or die situation.

I think we're good to go.

Having a second LH in the pen is as important to force the other manager's strategy as it is for our own manager.

Seeing as the White Sox were chasing Mike Myers tells us they want another lefty in the pen and I am very confident they'll land one.

Yes, they won't break camp with only one lefty one the roster. It's just not going to happen.

I'd be interested as to what Villone's asking price may be. Although the Fish gave up quite the prospect to land him at the trade-deadline, that might just be TS for them and may be willing to deal him for yet another young, inexpensive prospect type.

If Kenny is serious about cutting ties with Harris, Gload, Perez, and/or Borchard in a few weeks, he may want to inquire about Villone.

Harris could easily slide into 2B for the Marlins next year, giving them a serviceable, young, cheap 2B for a year or two, while they may be grooming others.

If, by some grace of God, Kenny is able to land Villone, he will have had two consecutive Grade A off-seasons.

I may have heard wrong, but I think Villone is a Boras client?

Ah, I see. Well, unless they would be interested in signing him to an extension, I don't see how that would affect things.

Unless, Boras clients are THAT taboo, and, I don't think they are.

I may be wrong.
