December 17, 200520 yr The Sox two class A affiliates, Kannapolis and Winston-Salem, are ridiculously close to each other. When you throw AAA Charlotte in the mix - which is just a close - you can basically drive up and down I-77 and see half of the White Sox entire farm system. Did we plan it like this? Convenient for scouts? Convenient for FutureSox.com addicts? Road trip anyone?
December 17, 200520 yr Yes, it was planned. Hickory is a minor league team as well. They wanted NC as a minor league area. That's why they dropped South Bend years ago.

They wanted all of their teams close together... Also lots of the FS guys try to do a trip once a year to see all of the teams in the southeast.

December 19, 200520 yr WS/Kanny/Bristol/Charlotte are all very close. Bham and Great Falls are the only ones farther away and Bham isnt' that far away (if your flying). There was definately a reason behind it, because it allows there roving minor league instructors and scouts (as well as Wilder and others) to be able to easily go into an area and see a bunch of players. Guys like Kirk Champion are always on the road going to one of those areas, so the less time they spend traveling, the more time they can spend working with the prospects. Its a fun trip too.
December 19, 200520 yr I miss South Bend though. Because all the rehab starts for major leaguers would be there. They have a plaque at the Cove where Fisk hit a home run.
December 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Great Falls, though....a tad out of the way. Unless of course you live in Utah. I saw Great Falls play in Orem last summer and next year I hope to see 'em play in Ogden too.
