Isn't demanding a trade two years after agreeing to a long, multi-year contract sort of being a clubhouse cancer?  He accepted a contract from the Orioles and is now demanding a trade because he doesn't want to play for them anymore.  Keep in mind, Tejada really has no right to demand a trade.  He wants a trade because he is disappointed with the Orioles' front office moves and he is sick of playing for a losing team.  He is basically telling his teammates that he doesn't think they are good enough to win anything.

The fact is, he is well known, by players, management and teammates to be a great presense, and a leader. It is a FACT. Even the lame ESPN scouting page has his strength as a tremndous leader and competitor. Calling him a cancer is a bit much IMO.

Yes they were, but he said that they told him they were going to make moves to make the team a contender. based on his storied desire to compete, I believe that he thought they were going to improve the team.

You know, we might both be right. Historically, with Oakland and his first season in Baltimore, maybe he was the best clubhouse guy around. Perhaps it took a season like last year and then management's inaction this offseason for Tejada to show his true colors.

Contreras was the best pitcher in baseball in the second half and in the playoffs last year. Replacing that isnt that easy.

Which is really no different than Mike Brown saying "we suck," but if you actually win the division, then you're seen as a great motivator instead of a team cancer.

Well, I have already said why in a lengthy post. But I think Uribe and Contreras have higher value than Tejada IMO. If we had unlimited budget, then yes he is a good fit. But I really like Uribe's talent, his youth, and his contract. Because he have to resign some EXPENSIVE pitchers in a couple of year, and uribe's contract will allow that, Tejadas wont.
