January 30, 200620 yr I'm glad Katie Holmes got nominated. I couldn't f***ing stand her in an otherwise great movie. Her stupid half smile during serious scenes. Talking out of the side of her mouth. She sucked.
January 30, 200620 yr As a proud card-carrying member of the Razzie Committee, may I say what a wonderful set of nominations this year. Some of the fine folks I nominated didn't make the cut, but I cannot disagree with the choices. I predict a "Dukes of Hazzard" sweep. Edited January 30, 200620 yr by RibbieRubarb
January 30, 200620 yr The thing I don't like about the Razzie's is that the choices for "worst actor" and such don't make sense. Sure, maybe Fantastic 4 was not a great movie (though I liked it kind of), but you can't really say Alba did a terrible job of acting. There were many films out there with truely bad acting in them. Hers was just a fairly high profile role in a movie people weren't crazy about. Same with a few of those other noms. Standing out is Tom Cruise. Come on, love him, like him, or hate him, but he was not bad in War Of The Worlds. He was actually very good in the movie, and I know of many people who are not Cruise fans who have said he was one of the things they liked about the movie. But because it is cool this year to hate the guy (I have never liked him, btw), he instantly gets a nomination in that area, since anyway to slag him off has got to be taken.
January 30, 200620 yr Most Tiresome Tabloid Targets: How Could Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie/Jennifer Aniston/Vince Vaughn not be nominated? They would win in a landslide.
January 30, 200620 yr I didn't mind "Son of the MasK". It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. It was a lot like the original with no-name actors in it, but Kennedy wasn't as funny as Carrey, of course.
January 30, 200620 yr .....and here I thought I was just in a s***ty mood when I suffered through 'Bewitched'.

Agreed on both points. There were large parts of War of the Worlds that I enjoyed, and Alba is just so hot that I can't equate "bad" with her at all...
January 30, 200620 yr If we take out Alba and replace her with Dakota Fanning, would everyone be happy? WotW was awful, I'm glad it didn't get any kind of Spielberg immunity.

January 30, 200620 yr QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) You are not a fan of the book then. I guess you could say that. I never read the book. I've never read sci fi much. But I don't think that's the whole story, or even much of it. I read The Time Machine, and my reaction was just, meh. I watched this movie, and my reaction was, holy s***, why did I subject myself to that when I at least could have watched Deuce Bigalo in that time? Okay, not quite, but it was still pretty awful.

January 31, 200620 yr QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) you cant nominate Jay Chanreshkar, he wrote Super Troopers. Then he did Club Dread and Dukes of Hazzard, both sucked.
January 31, 200620 yr QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 31, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) Then he did Club Dread and Dukes of Hazzard, both sucked. Club Dread was just REALLY confused on what it wanted to be. If it had chosen a direction, it could have been good. But as is, it's not much of anything.

But as is, it's not much of anything. One movie I have actually seen and can comment on. As it is...I would agree very much. I just honestly could not tell what the hell was going on, whether it was supposed to be a comedy or horror. It turned out horrible and was not a movie I would ever recommend to anyone ever.
