Brandon Phillips: One time super prospect of the Tribe is out of options, and most likely has no chance of staying on the big league roster. This guy calls himself "The Franchise"... lol.

Phillips makes Willie look like a modest player.

Wasn't Brandon Phillips all glove and no bat, then b****ed when they sent him back to AAA instead of working on his hitting because of his massive ego?

 

Sounds similar to a certain middle infielder that the Sox once traded Chris Singleton for.

Sounds like our version of Joe Borchard, except that Borchard has a good shot of landing the last outfielder spot. I remember the massive amount of hype about this Phillips kid.

sans ego. From all accounts Joe is one of the nicest guys in the organization, and I have never heard about him b****ing about being sent back down to the minors.

He was the key player in the Colon trade. A little less than 4 years later, Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee are awesome, and Phillips doesn't have a spot on the team.

That trade occured prior to the 2002 season, and the Indians are still reaping benefits from it in the form of Jason Michaels.

Yeah, Im being whimsical though. Im thinking of a site where the trades are categorized by year and month, where you can just click on the trade and *poof*! There is the info on the trade. You know, something that no one would do because it wouldnt serve any real purpose other than to fuel our debates. But damn would that site be on my favorites in a heartbeat.

Damn, I was just browsing through some players transaction lists on baseball-reference.com, and came across this gem for Gary Sheffield, I forgot about the magnitude of this trade:

The Atlanta Braves wanted to draft him No. 1 overall in 1990, but were wary of the bonus demands of a pitcher many scouts called the best high school prospect they'd ever seen. (Atlanta instead drafted Chipper Jones.) As for Van Poppel, he was drafted by Oakland and Baseball America rated him the best prospect in 1991, second-best in 1992, seventh-best in 1993 ... I dont consider a guy a bust when its injury that basicly ruined his career..... Rauch can still pitch but he wasnt same after that.
