February 2, 200620 yr Van Poppel had two good seasons with the Cubs in 2000 and 2001 as a reliever. http://www.baseball-reference.com/v/vanpoto01.shtml That's why he got that contract from the Rangers.
February 2, 200620 yr Looking at this thread has made me apperciate KW even more. I'm glad he doesn't slobber over prospects the way some GMs do. I figure unless you have a no doubt about it guy like Mark Prior, Felix Hernandez or David Wright, any prospect is fair game.

February 2, 200620 yr QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Damn, I was just browsing through some players transaction lists on baseball-reference.com, and came across this gem for Gary Sheffield, I forgot about the magnitude of this trade: I think I remember Piazza being on the marlins for a really short period of time. Did he even spend a half of a season with them?

One week, IIRC got this on baseball-reference.com May 14, 1998: Traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers with Todd Zeile to the Florida Marlins for Manuel Barrios, Bobby Bonilla, Jim Eisenreich, Charles Johnson, and Gary Sheffield. May 22, 1998: Traded by the Florida Marlins to the New York Mets for Preston Wilson, Ed Yarnall, and Geoff Goetz (minors). Edited February 2, 200620 yr by kyyle23
