O'Reilly starts petition to fire Oblermann

Featured Replies

Well, I'll agree with him that the firing of Mr. Donahue was probably somewhat politically motivated and a bit unfair...Methinks O'Reilly is probably just unhappy about being labeled the "Worst person in the world" so often.

I wonder if this will earn Mr. O'Reilly another of those awards...

Chairman Robert Wright

National Broadcasting Company

30 Rockefeller Plaza

New York, New York 10112

Dear Chairman Wright:

We, the undersigned, are becoming increasingly concerned about the well-being of MSNBC and, in particular, note the continuing ratings failure of the program currently airing weeknights on that network at 8:00 PM EST.

It is now apparent to everyone that a grave injustice has been done to the previous host for that time slot, Phil Donahue, whose ratings, at the time of his show's cancellation three years ago, were demonstrably stronger than those of the current host.

Therefore, in an effort to rescue MSNBC from the ratings basement and to restore the honor and dignity of Mr. Donahue, who was ignobly removed as host three years ago, we ask that you immediately bring Phil Donahue's show back at 8:00 PM EST before any more damage is done.

Link to O'Reilly's petition.

Are Olbermann's ratings actually down from Donahue's?

the Donahue show was hilarious, it needs to be on TV

O'Reilly doesn't like Obermann because he constantly rubs O'Reilly's nose in the mess from that sexual harassment lawsuit he faced a year or two ago. For O'Reilly this is strictly personal.

that is HILARIOUS!!!

Bill O'Reilly - today's worst person in the world!!!

haha...what a pompous ass o'reilly is.

If I were Fox News, I would reprimand O'Reilly for commenting on another station... Seriously, If MSNBC's ratings rise, it could have a negative impact on Fox News.

This would sorta piss me off if I were an exec.

Actually Olbermann's ratings are doing very well for MSNBC. About a year ago, he was averaging about 250,000 viewers nightly. That's closing in on 400K now. Still about a fifth of O'Reilly's ratings, but still a lot of growth. (And he's about the best thing that MSNBC has going in the money demo.)

Something we can both agree on.

/O'Reilly -- he's a uniter and not a divider. He just unites anybody with sanity, logic, reason and facts against him.

The only way I'd support this is if he was brought back to do SC. :D

I love how so many people hate O'Reilly but yet talk about him so much.

The Mariotti Principle.

haha, i saw that last night it was soo funny.

I respect O'Reilly for bringing a lot of issues to the fore. He is dogged and won't allow politicians or judges to hide.

That said, he can also be a bully, and I think that this stunt with KO shows that he's too impressed with his own sense of power.
