One of their top prospects and one of the reasons that they let Bengie go like retards.  Mathis is very talented but not ready yet.

It would have made a ton of sense for them to offer arbitration to B. Molina to give Mathis 1 more year in the Minors, but I can't say I totally disagree with their plan. They've got the talent in their organization to build one of the best young infields in baseball history. Even if it costs them a year or two at the top of the division, they're going to be really really good when they can work all these guys in.

 

The thing that's amazing me? They called up Kendrick at the end of last week, and we haven't seen him at all as far as I know. He's spent this whole series riding the pine. That's a sure fire way to develop young hitters.
