Something From Yahoo

Scroll down to the stuff about Vernon Wells. I can't see this happening but Toronto could use a starter.

Yahoo trade Speculation

Pure speculation. It would solve the OF problems for a decade, but I don't see it happening.

Toronto is closer to overtaking the Red Sox than the White Sox are to overtaking the Tigers.

Does he play LF? If so, I would love the pick up. I don't think Pods is going to be resigned, and if he can fill in, then I wouldn't mind the trade. What about leadoff? Would he be able to hit there?

Hmm, I love his defensive ability and his arm, but I'll have to look into him more before I make up my mind.

be still my heart - that would be one we never saw coming. Vernon Wells is sooo good.

Hmm too bad this is pure speculation. I would love V. Wells to put on a White Sox uniform this year. But i truly believe Toronto is in it for the long hall. V. Wells is their franchise IMO. I can't see him going anywhere unless the Jays' lose frequently up untill the deadline.

Lets say the Jays fall out of contention this year, they will plan for next year. So it would make sense for them to take Javy (who has like 3 years left) and maybe a couple of prospects for Vernon Wells. Then we can plug BMac into the rotation finally.

Can you guys imagine this lineup?

Pods, Gooch, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Wells, Crede, Pierzynksi, Uribe

WOW thats nasty! You can also figure out that BMac couldn't be much worse than Javy also. And IF we do make the playoffs (and by aqcuirering Wells, me most certaintly would) You can go: Contreras, Buerhle, and Garland in that order in the divisional round.

Hey I can dream right? :cheers

Riccardi would be run out of town on a rail. A RAIL!!! Not a chance. If they are out of it next year, that being his contract year...then maybe, but not this year.

You really have no idea who Vernon Wells is don't you? Right now he's probably the best defensive outfielder in the American League and probably second in baseball behind Andruw Jones. He is not a leadoff hitter, he's much more of a 3 hole hitter, great contact, real good pop, great run producer with some above average speed. I've always thought the world of him because he has so many well polished tools.

Indeed. For Wells, we move Anderson over. We don't move Vernon. Vernon can play CF all he wants. That'd be this lineup, I guess:

Iguchi, 2b

Crede, 3b

Thome, dh

Konerko, 1b

Wells, cf

Dye, rf

Pierzynski, c

Uribe, ss

Anderson, lf

Crazy. Never going to happen, but crazy. That would also likely be the best defensive outfield in history.

I think I rather have Brian in CF, especially at the Cell. Vernon is a little bit overrated defensively. Even some Jays fans tell me this. He's great, but not as great as people think.

that WHOLE lineup has 20hr potential... wow...

I figure any trade of Wells to the Sox would involve Anderson...I just don't see any way around it. If Toronto still wants to make a run this year, it's going to be Garcia and Anderson for Wells and a prospect/reliever best case scenario, and that's just flat out not using your bargaining chips very well at all.

And besides, as much as I like Wells or Jones or any of those stud CFers, power is not a problem of the lineup long-term or short, and CF is quite frankly not a problem long or short term either.

The day Vernon Wells is traded is the day J.P. Riccardi is fired.
