Promote Ryan Garko to take over at 1st base, or let Kelly Shoppach be the everyday C and let Martinez start at 1B. I just checked, and Garko's only hitting about .250 in AAA this year, with an OPS of .774. He may be on his way in the upwards direction, but just based on the full season numbers I'm not so sure he's earned a promotion. He hit .303 with an .882 OPS at AAA last year.
July 27, 200619 yr Man, Choo is a decent prospect but I thought Cleveland might be able to get a little bit more. How many more years does Broussard have on his contract? It will be interesting to see who the PTBNL is.
July 27, 200619 yr Choo is really really good but I thought he has a 2 year military service to complete after this year which would certainly hurt his prospect status. I recall him homering in a Futures Game as well
July 27, 200619 yr it's tought though because we don't know if Shoppach can play every day and hit and also, Vic Martinez is suddenly a normal hitting first baseman whereas he was the first or second best hitting catcher.
