October 11, 200619 yr 7/11 stores are paying the White Sox $500,000 to move the start time of weeknight games to 7:11.
October 11, 200619 yr QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 07:03 AM) 7/11 stores are paying the White Sox $500,000 to move the start time of weeknight games to 7:11. Is this real?
October 11, 200619 yr maybe they can give out free slurpees if the sox score in the 7th inning. That would be a wonderful thing.

October 11, 200619 yr QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Ads on Uniforms are right around the Corner this isn't soccer. remember the huge uproar of the spiderman 2 stuff on the bases? Ads on the unis aren't going to happen anytime soon.
October 11, 200619 yr That is not worth 500,000, ESPN will not be happy to add Sox to there schedule with this nonsense! Edited October 11, 200619 yr by Soxfest

October 11, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Ads on Uniforms are right around the Corner I agree. It wasn't too long ago that ads on outfield walls were minor league. I think the Sox will be sporting a US Cellular patch on their unis sometime soon. Once its approved and 1 team takes the plung, all the others will follow.

This wwould be 4 minutes later than usual....im sure espn can pump up their on air crap for a few more minutes.
October 11, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(Jimbo @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) This wwould be 4 minutes later than usual....im sure espn can pump up their on air crap for a few more minutes. That's right, its not a big difference, and since they were torn between 7 and 7:30 start times, it sort of splits the difference and puts a few more dollars into the budget. Its not a bad thing. I wonder if Slurpees will be served at the park.
October 11, 200619 yr QUOTE(That funky motion @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 09:21 AM) Good! Who needs them!!! Not everyone in a 90 mile radius of Chicago gets Comcast Sports Net so I do!

Last I checked, 11 (7:11) minus 5 (7:05) was 6. But I agree with your sentiment - ESPN could care less. Or, MLB can simply tell the Sox to move it up to 7:05 those specific games. Friday is considered a "weekend". Does that article specify? I'm not registering, and there is no confirmation of this anywhere else including WhiteSox.com.
October 11, 200619 yr Author QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) I suppose it's better than 4:20. 4:20 might not be bad when the rebuilding begins. It would make it more bearable.

I'm not registering, and there is no confirmation of this anywhere else including WhiteSox.com. It says this in the article steff... It is not easy to conjure $500,000 out of the ether, but the White Sox have discovered a way. Their financial trick was really quite simple. They changed their weeknight starting times at U.S. Cellular Field. No more 7:05 p.m. or 7:35 p.m. games, of which there are about 50. They will all begin, for the next three seasons, at 7:11 p.m., courtesy of 7-Eleven, the convenience store giant, which will pay the team an average of a half-million dollars a year to be the name behind the time.

I haven't seen anything about that either.
October 11, 200619 yr i don't mind this stuff. i remember all the hang-wringing when the bears announced their partnership with bankone. people suggested all these nightmare scenarios (uniform patches, the logo on the helmet, etc.) but they never materialized. to people not going to the game, the influence of bankone is benign, if not nonexistent. i have no problem with this. my only question is where is the money going? is this something that could allow greater payroll flexibility in the future, or will these funds be diverted into another bucket?
October 11, 200619 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) $500K may cover the cost of TP for the '07 season. Timo Perez? SWEET!
