Soxtalk Amongst Best Baseball Sites

I am really surprised, honestly. I wouldn't put this site anywhere near the top. The posters here are great but the server is slow and there is no search function. I find it amazing that it would be in the top half for those reasons alone.

I really do love this site, though, don't get me wrong.

I feel like an ass even saying that

Well if you want to buck up for a quad core server with about 8 gig of memory I am sure that Jas and everyone would be very appreciative. You realize that the guys who run this site have other jobs and I didn't know that any of their jobs included IT. Its a pretty damn well run ship considering that its on people's own dimes and all and the amount of activity that hits this thing.

Well, we're going to be trying our IT hat(s) over the next few weeks because of the issues that max did bring up (and don't worry, the discussions have been taking place over the last couple of weeks). So, max, your comments are duly noted.

In the interim, you can search google for soxtalk threads.

keep ignoring me Jason.... my heart, much like my will, is made of stone and brillo pads.... it will sand you down eventually.

How can I ignore the great Murcie...the man that helped turned SoxNet from a two man show (and a very unpopular one at that) into Soxtalk (one of the best baseball communities on the web). Plus we had such features as "Murcie's House of Love". :cheers

Yikes..! Look at what the cat dragged in!! :P Hope all is well.

:cheers

BTW, for those of you that know him, I spoke to RPS on Thursday. He's doing awesome.

Awesome. All this brings me back to the olden days.

The 7th entry on that search is Nuke's blog.

Kinda awkward that we're starting over the same month this voting is happening.

You completely missed my point. I already knew all that crap. They should accept donations. I would donate.

You know, that is entirely true. All the curious outsiders checking on will see a bunch of posters who just joined and only have a handful of posts. Plus the boards will only be a couple pages deep with no apparent history since all of that stuff is going to be archived and moved offsite.

Hmmmm, well, we know what a kickass site it is anyhow, even if reset the whole she-bang just when the outside world come in for a look-see.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Keepers of Soxtalk, you continue to rawk hard. :cheers

That something we thought of but I've never been in it for the accolades (albeit I was really stoked to get listed in the top 8, just like I was stoked to have an interview in ESPN the magazine and see this site featured on Sports Illustrated).

Still, I think with more hard work and a stable server set up this place will continue to emerge as a premiere community, baseball site and well just all around great web site.

I don't disagree – I just wondered at the timing of it if you cared much about getting any outside votes.

Then again, if the plan is to stuff the ballotbox like real Chicagoans, what's the worry, right? :D

Exactly...we will show how great we are when we win the thing with almost no posts and just a few registered members
