Perez suspended 25 games

from rotoworld:

MLB announced Friday that Neifi Perez has been suspended for 25 games after testing positive for a banned stimulant.

The suspension is effective immediately and it sounds like the Tigers may call up Ryan Raburn to take his place on the roster. Losing Perez isn't much of a blow to the Tigers given that he's hitting .172 with a .487 OPS. Raburn, 26, is hitting .292 with solid power and speed at Triple-A

Are they crazy? Why have a backup useless Perez if you're not gonna use him?

I thought you couldn't call someone up to replace suspensions, or is it different for "long term" suspensions?

...well, this is not a suprise.

I have always said it. "Yup, that Neifi Perez has always looked like a 'roider' to me."

Neifi Perez is still in baseball?

Well, he had to be taking something to have as much energy as he did...

Stimulants are not roids.

Oh, this is for greenies?

Oh, that's rich.

I'd be willing to bet more than half the league is on greenies.

oops.... fixed :D

Somewhere Dusty Baker is smiling, because he knew what made Neifi good. :D

neifi and good don't belong in the same sentence unless it has not in it

They moved Vance Wilson to the 60 day DL to make room.

Raburn has been doing well in AAA, everyone has been calling for him to replace Monroe. If anything, this gets Infante more playing time.

But really, it's hilarious. Maybe the stimulant got his OPS from .483 to .487..

to the people who follow wrasslin' let me just say WELLNESS~!

Is it just me, or does it seems like there is an inordinate number of players who are suspected juicers who have a connection to Baker?

Neifi Perez, what a loser

This article on ESPN.com is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo confusing. They keep calling it stimulants, which makes you think greenies. But this is the fourth paragraph of the article:

Under baseball's labor contract, a player cannot be disciplined multiple times for a positive test stemming from the same use of a banned substance, meaning Perez had to take a prohibited stimulant more than once.

Which raises the question, why would he be taking greenies when he's suspended, if his original suspension was to end tonight?

What a f***ing moron!

How many times does he get to "tested positive" before he is banned? (It is baseball, shouldn't it be three strikes?)

It's for "stimulants," not performance-enhancing drugs.

But why would he be taking stimulants, unless it's for a game? Or do they mean speed or cocaine?

I could be wrong but I don't think they consider narcotics to be stimulants. Stimulants are banned, narcotics are illegal.

A stimulant can certainly be a Performance enhancing drug. It is not a steroid, but it can certainly improve your performance during an athletic activity.

Have to wonder if maybe he's gotten himself hooked on something.

So he says he was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed Adderall. I guess that explains the third positive test while he was supended -- it's a pretty crappy alibi if you say you have ADHD, then don't take the medication when you're out of the lineup. Or maybe he has ADHD...it just took 12 years in the country to figure it out. But maybe that's the source of his .267 career average and .297 career OBP.

Man, the MLB is doing the the Tigers a favor by suspending Perez.

Man, if you take a banned substance, and STILL suck that bad... ooh.

what is with this guy?
