Lofton to Indians

For Max Ramirez

Nice haul for Texas. Max is 22 and in high A but the offensive ability seems to be there. Any time you can get a high upside player like Ramirez for a 40 year old rent-a-player you've done a good job.

Ramirez BTW is the player the Indians received in return for Bob Wickman last year.

rumors on radio out here are suggesting indians are going to send ben francisco for octavio dotel. also, cliff lee was demoted.

Interesting and very plausible. KC prob. overpaid for Dotel but they were smart, it now looks as if they'll get something useful for him. KC has lots of OF. Now since the White Sox are trading with KC again, send them Tyler Lumsden II and get Joey Gathright. He is no worse a CF option than what we have now.

I like this move for the Indians win now. Granted, Lofton is nothing close to what he was with them during his first stint, but nonetheless, Sizemore and Lofton at the top of that lineup will be very dangerous on the basepaths.

That's probably why they picked up Dotel. Moore is very shrewd and handsome.

Pretty cool to see Lofton back with the Tribe.

"Lee had two Minor League option years remaining. But because he was on a multiyear contract (the Indians gave him a three-year, $14 million extension last summer), he had to pass through waivers unclaimed before the Indians could send him down."

A little surprising he passed through wavers even though he is a little expensive to be in AAA.

I had no idea Lofton was having such a good season this year. He has put up great numbers... I like this move, but the Indians need pitching badly, if you ask me.

Soooo, where does Lofton play? Is he just a 4th OF???

Read they will put him in LF.

I would assume he takes over LF and Michaels becomes a 4th OF. They sent down OF Ben Francisco as well.

Michaels is platooning with him, I think.

so, if I were Wedge, I'd probably have the lineup look something like...

Lofton, LF

Blake, 3B

Sizemore, CF

Martinez, C

Hafner, DH

Peralta, SS

Nixon/Gutierrez/Michaels, RF

Garko, 1B

Barfield, 2B

Pretty dangerous lineup.

A good deal for both teams. Hopefully for Texas' sake Ramirez can stick at C.
