Cotts Update!

Featured Replies

Cotts, like Malone, has control problems. Malone, even tho I was high on him, has nearly dropped off the radar. In a few years, Cotts might too. You dont survive in the bigs when youre allowing 39 walks in 68 IP at AA...

From someone that has seen both Cotts and Malone extensively, I will tell you that there is no comparison. Cotts' control has improved greatly over his last several starts and you can see it. Malone was and is very raw. Cotts is very polished.

From someone that has seen Buehrle, Biddle, Wells, Fogg, Garland, Wright and others, Cotts is as good or better than any of them at this point in their development.

THEY JUST SAID THERE WAS AN 8 PLAYER POOL COTTS COULD BE FIRST CHOICE IF KW LETS HIM GO

I'm still hearing 5 with the choice of 3. I'm trusting the local media on this one.

I suppose Neil Cotts can be something but in exchange for Keith Foulke he is getting Everett and Koch. Valentine is no closer to the closers role than Jose Valentin. I would miss reading the Cotts AA line every couple of days but in the grand scheme of things replacing Rios and Jimenez with Alomar and Everett makes this trade worth it. How is Matt Guerrier doing?

ESPN is reporting 3 of a pool of 8 ml'ers.

Some one at WSI has reported that a Neil Cotts checked into a holiday last night in ANA.

Still scouring.

John Hart was quoted in the Dallas Morning News that they will pick two or three players from a pool of 8 players. They trade may not be finalized until July 31.

Thanks Rex. Just looked on line and saw a few stories about it. The 8 appears to be correct.

Cotts was on the Barons bus that came back to Birmingham last night and was interviewed by news crews along with Royce Ring. Don't believe everything you hear!

I almost wonder if there may be more players potentially involved since the trade may not be complete until the trading deadline.

Could the extra three players be prospects on other teams that the Sox think they may be able to get in another trade? So maybe the list of Sox players is only 5??

A stretch, perhaps, but anything is possible.

These moves are making me dizzy. The ensures one thing. The Sox are in the front page of the sports section from coast to coast. How often does that happen?

Good news on the Cotts watch: GM John Hart has said that the list of 8 prospects contains position players as well. Hm, here's to hoping Cotts is off the list!

lol... doesnt happen often.... wonder if we will get more spots on sports center or baseball tonite as well ........ :D lol

2 years ago if we made this trade everyone would have screaming please dont let it be corwin malone...would anyone care if it was malone now???...doesnt matter who the prospects are because none of us know who will delevop and who wont...for all we know cotts may never make it to the majors and the number 3 guy in the trade might be the next hall of famer...im just glad the sox brass realized that this was the time to go for it...if this move gives us a world series then i dont care if texas gets 3 future hall of famers from us

Hell, if we win the world series this year (Im dreaming), then I would have no complaints whatsoever. A WS is a once-in-a-lifetime chance and you give up whatever you have to give up just for a shot at it.

I just dont think Everett will help us get to the promised land.

Man, look what a couple deals have done to us, talking about winning the world series. ;)

Rangers execs said it was 8 in their newspaper, or I thought thats what they said.

They have the option of 2 or 3.

In speculating of some of the position players that could be on that list, I'd guess one of them is Tim Hummel.

Possibly someone like Ryan Hankins could also be on that list or even a Mike Spidale. I'd say that could be the best position guy on the list.

Maybe they could go like Spidale and Diaz for him or take lesser. Who knows though.

I'm just hoping I'll be happy after hearing the names.
