Umm, why would we constantly talk about a trade he didn't make? that kind of thing doesn't happen all that often. I doubt people would be pining for Javier Vazquez if he hadn't been traded for.

Not that he hasn't been good this season, but for you to say, "we'd constantly hear..." seems off.

It amazes me that this trade is still being debated. As I have said before this trade has worked out well for both teams. Young has done more than anyone outhere in AZ ever expected and Javy has (outside of Mark B) been one of the most consistant and better pitchers for the Sox's.

After nearly 2 years I wouldn't think this trade will still be debated the way it still is.

I'm not even getting into the "should it be debated" or "CHRIS YOUNG!" portion. I just don't believe that we would be going, "HEY, KW SHUD HAVE TR8ED FOR JAVY!" if we hadn't traded for him. Why would we? People don't often do that, especially not coming off a Series with a "bright future" ahead of them and McCarthy waiting and all that. Especially since he wasn't THAT hot last year, in totality, and who knows what he would've done in another city if we hadn't gotten him. Seems like a huge stretch to say, "We'd be mad about not getting Javy!"

Right.

Who cares what people would have said if we hadn't traded for him, the point is we did, and the team is better for it.

I don't think that's true. Not absolutely, anyway. I like Javy enough. I'm very skeptical, though. And I'd much prefer to have Chris Young. I've always been floored by the failure of our scouts with regard to BA, though.

He had such a massive hitch in his swing. I don't know how they could have ever been confident he'd hit good pitching.

At least we can take satisfaction from the isolated nature of that scouting failure.

It isn't just the swing that prevents him from hitting good pitching. But then again I suppose the mechanics of the swing does start between the ears. He has talent there's no doubt about that. Intangibles necessary to succeed? Questionable.

Anyone associated with the org could have told you about the holes Anderson had in his swing from day one. I know that pretty much every writeup I had on Anderson (both on here and on FutureSox) back when he was in the minors discussed the fact that he had to make adjustments to succeed and every year I would be proven wrong as he would get to a new level and just rake.

Turns out once he got to the major league level, the hole was exploited and the guy ended up looking worse than a good chunk of pitchers in baseball at the plate (I remember saying that after watching about a week's worth of major league at bats and it never ever got much better...but after being wrong for 3 years I figured maybe he would figure things out and get by but I am completely sure he will fail unless he makes some miraculous changes to that swing).

You are right, he reminded me of a bad hitting pitcher.

BA went from being a stud prospect to nothing.

Baseball is a cruel game.

Once the rumors got out, there would be plenty of whining here. And deservedly so, as the Sox's rotation is a shell of what it was two years ago and will get even worse when Jon is (likely) traded next season. I can't imagine what our record would be right now if Floyd had taken Javy's spot in the rotation this season.

I apologize to Javy Vazquez for saying he had no heart, brains or courage earlier in the season. It seems he just needed some stability and has certainly stepped up in this godawful season. I hope he carries it into next season since he'll prolly be the #2 starter on this team so keep it going Javy!

Maybe KW could have waited out Josh Brynes a little longer and got a better deal but It is hard to say. I do find it interesting if CY can pull off 4 more steals he will be the first rookie to go 30-30 in his first season.

I also picked up my first round tickets against what looks to be the Cubs today.
