Thankfully California's pet rescues and shelters learned from Louisiana's mistakes. It's just too bad that many pet owners in this situation are irresponsible assholes.

Good for them. It would be like leaving a kid behind for us to leave the cats.

No doubt. We don't have any kids, so our dog would be priority #1, actually. F*ck everything else (clothing, material items, etc).

How anyone could think otherwise is beyond me.

Your kids become the bigger priority and their needs. When you are chasing around finding their stuff and making certain they are out of danger, the pets come second.

kids > pets > kids' stuff

Unless your house is literally on fire I can't imagine someone just saying "just leave the dogs".

I can't either, but if the rescue crews are there evacuating you, I can't see staying and trying to find the cat. I can't see risking anyone's life for a pet. But some do put human life and animal life on the same level.

I agree... when we have the tornado sirens going off the three times a year they go off, we make sure we have the pets buttoned down as well right there with us.

Hello this is AT&T.

My house burned down, I just wanted to let you know so we can cancel the billing.

Did you save the receiver.

Well no, thats not what I was thinking about.

Well that will be 300 dollars, how would you like to pay for it.

Nice customer service AT&T. You suck.

As a whole I think the state/rescue shelters did a great job but its pathetic how many people just ditched there pets/animals. It is one thing if you are in a life and death situation and the only thing you have time to grab is your kid and run out the door, but its another when you have time to get your pictures and other stuff and still leave your pets.

I know for me the first thing in the car would be my moms two pets (and of course my mom).
