November 12, 200718 yr ESPN 1000... good move for the cubs. e-gads is Jacque going to kill us like he did in Minnesota?
November 12, 200718 yr Author QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) Why oh why would they want Jaque Jones? Sheffield possibly being outed for steroids soon and incurring an early-season supsension!? that's about as speculative as I've ever been. otherwise i dont really get this one.
November 12, 200718 yr After letting Monroe go...it's possible the Tigers noticed that Marcus Thames put up a .705 OPS against righties last year and a .744 OPS after the break, while Jones put up a .832 OPS after the break (although, despite being a lefty, his splits don't show a big righty/lefty swing).
November 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 02:50 PM) I'd rather have jones than infante. IMO Yeah its not a great trade for the cubs. The tigs can platoon Rayburn and Jones in LF and the cubs can, well they can........I guess they can keep stockpiling 2B.

November 12, 200718 yr Watch the Cubs land Fukudome for RF now. They are drooling over his on base skills.
November 12, 200718 yr QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 03:38 PM) Watch the Cubs land Fukudome for RF now. They are drooling over his on base skills. Fukudome would make a nice LF for the sox. The OBP would fill a need at the top of the order.
November 12, 200718 yr im pretty sure like 90 % of omar infantes hits and HR were against the white sox so im glad to see him gone
November 12, 200718 yr Doesnt this basically hand the starting Cubs CF job to Felix Pie? Most likely.

November 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) The same can be said about Jones...ugh. Since 2005, Jones has, in 61 at bats, put up 5 home runs and a 1.005 OPS against the White Sox. In that time, Jones has hit 5 home runs against 2 other team; the St. Louis Cardinals and the Reds. In 120 and 109 at bats, respectively. He has not hit more than 4 against any other team in that stretch. He has a higher OPS against us than against anyone else he's seen more than 25 times. Infante has hit .295 against us in the last 3 years, in 96 at bats, but has only posted an .800 OPS. He has hit 4 home runs against the Sox in that time, and has not hit more than 2 against any other team. Ugh, can these guys like collide on their way to each other's parks & both wind up on the DL?

November 13, 200718 yr QUOTE(SoxAce @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) At least Buehrle PWNS the s*** out of him. See, the problem is...against a lefty, they can just sit Jones and put in Rayburn or Thames, and Thames at least has a .826 OPS against MB.

Oh I know they can bench him (hell the Twins did it when he was there) I was just making light of the situation.
