The 56% turnout is surprisingly low. But yeah, adios Senor f***ball !

Shame. I really like Chavez. I think this will just prove that he is part of democracy and he was never a dictator.

I will be surprised if this winds up being his last attempt to hold onto power.

he'll find a way to do it anyways.

Just to get our words straight, when's the last time you saw a dictator lose an election 51-49?

He may be an aspiring dictator, but he's certainly not there yet.

You would. Of course, you like posting s*** to see what can get you a reaction, too. Have fun!

I am shocked he didn't rig this.

He may have tried to, and that may have resulted in it being so close. It may have been a landslide against him, and his efforts to push the election just weren't enough.

Except I am not sure Chavez has that much control over the military. In fact I'd bet he doesn't.

My opinion on Chavez has nothing to do with reaction. I just don't buy into the whole "he's a evil dictator trying to eat small children" thing. I think he run's a different kind of goverment than America. It's also a different kind of country. From everything I've read, from first hand accounts he's done some great things.

Are you sure that they are two different people. Their ideology looks pretty similar.

Their ideologies are pretty similar. But Chavez does hold a lot of legitimacy in Caracas and Venezuela. There is a strong liberal pull in Latin America that you might not think. It's how Daniel Ortega went from deposed dictator to elected president in Nicaragua.
