They just made their way in front of the camera. I would bet that they have been written off so that they can put a couple of proven writers onto the spinoff.

It will be interesting because the Office hasn't done traditional "cliffhangers" where everything is frozen in time until the fall and then pick up where they left off. Usually they start a new season as if 3-4 months passed. So whatever happens with Pam and Jim would have happened already. It was a solid finale and looking forward to next season
