July 6, 200322 yr The 'writers' don't know who the hell he is. Everyone knows Posada though. :fyou writers may not know who he is but ... the base runners are getting to know him very well.... arent they????lol.......
July 6, 200322 yr The 'writers' don't know who the hell he is. Everyone knows Posada though. :fyou Didn't one of the Molina's win it last year? I didn't think the writers knew whatever one of them won it either.

July 6, 200322 yr I do no think he will be able to win a gold glove yet. If you look at this stats as of this point, I see Bengie Molina deserving the gold glove. Molina - .998 fielding %, 21 of 49 runners caught, 1 error, 74 games (67 started) Olivo - .987 fielding %, 12 of 40 runners caught, 5 errors, 61 games (53 started) Posada - .993 fielding %, 17 of 60 runners caught, 4 errors, 73 games (69 started) Davis - .992 fielding %, 12 of 26 runners caught, 2 errors, 45 games (40 started) I see these guys as some of the best candidates.
July 6, 200322 yr Miguel has been awesome throwing out runners, but he sometimes just has problems catching balls behind the plate that should be caught.
July 6, 200322 yr Not to mention that ShamME-esque K in the 6th when we couldn't score with no one out and bases loaded. Gold Glove maybe. Batting Title?????
July 6, 200322 yr Not to mention that ShamME-esque K in the 6th when we couldn't score with no one out and bases loaded. Gold Glove maybe. Batting Title????? I felt the breeze on those who swings up here in Michigan - and the balls he swung at passed this way too, they were that far outside
July 6, 200322 yr The play by Olivo where he tried to get the guy at 3rd cost us the game though. Lets say he gets the out at first then Loaiza K's the guy. Then that soft grounder for a base hit doesn't get through be/c the infield isn't playing in. That's how I see it happening. But yes he was the only joy point of that game.
July 6, 200322 yr I really like Olivo. Other than the fact that he has got a gun you can see that he likes the game and is still having fun. This is what I don't see from some of the other guys. Olivo should be able to get better at the plate. With that arm, I'd be happy with him batting .240 though.
July 6, 200322 yr Benji Molina's mostly gonna have his second straight gold glove under his belt. This guy is just amazing, he guns down runner after runner and makes it look effortless. And he aint having a bad year offensively either.
July 6, 200322 yr Olivo won't make it yet. Typically it takes a year or two till a guy gets that kind of respect unless he's on a big time team. Plus his playing time is limited. Don't fret though, he will win a few before he retires. I also think we'll see him make big strides over the next few years at the plate. The one thing I worry about is his loss of strike zone judgement. In the past I always thought of him as a guy with good judgement, but I haven't seen it at all lately.
