Needed it BADLY with the long road trip coming up, lack of home games in May, and Minnesota being the opponent.

 

Big win today.

Huge series win. We luck out in not having to face Bedard and Hernandez this weekend.

This is the first time I can ever remember that I honestly had no idea the Sox were playing this afternoon. Wow.

Dye and A.J. are both showing signs they are coming out of it, and Quentin is still on fire while even Juan is hitting around .300 this month. Still too many easy outs in our lineup, but things are starting to look A LITTLE better.

Agreed. The fact that Danks and Floyd are pitching this way makes me optimistic about the rest of the season. If they start hitting, we'll have a good shot of taking first place back and staying there.

We are going to play in 3 pitcher parks. You will see the usual transformation. Our offense will realize that they cannot bash it out like a softball team, and they will hit, actually hit over the next 3 series. I wish they would do this when they come back to a hitters park. Our pitching has been great this year. Hopefully it will keep up. Ozzie using the template bullpen mode at the end was impressive as well.

No, it was a terrible decision, you have to play the left match-up against Mauer and Morneau. We got incredibly lucky Linebrink didn't give up a run. Ozzie in an idiot.

The good news is Dotel and Linebrink got holds.

If we are going to do anything (assuming the hitting can scrap together some runs like it somehow did today) we need to establish set up men.

Dotel and Linebrink leading up to Bobby is our hope.

playing CF basically full time now is a major change too. A day off would do him some good. Also, with his patience at the plate and being a switch hitter, he would be a good guy for a pinch hit role in a tight game

Hopefully, this will the start of Uribe's hot streak.

 

His HR today snapped a stretch of 11 straight solo homers. Tells you how bad our offense has been.

 

Anyway, great way to end the homestand and begin the dreaded West Coast trip, I will be seeing them in SF.

Ozzie is doing a good job in regards to our young starters, I will say that. He got Floyd out immediately after giving up a hit the other night, and today he could have tried to push Danks for another inning, but let him settle for a solid 5 inning, 2 run, 88 pitch outing and he even got the win. Not pushing guys that are starting to look like the future in our rotation and screwing up their arms with too much work is key and Ozzie is doing well handling that.

He was being sarcastic. Your point is certainly valid, but Mauer and Morneau in their careers have hit NOWHERE NEAR as well against lefties as righties, which is the issue me and many others had. Luckily, it worked out.

I just wanted to point out that Linebrink has historically been much more effective against lefties than our lefty specialists have been.

I just got back from the game. Place was packed with kids from all over the city today. Similar to last night's walk through until Sox put 3 on the board answering the Twins 2 in the top of the inning. It was nice to get the lead, but still via the homer. Later, the Sox let a bases loaded with one out opportunity go by the wayside and I thought they were going to blow another game.

 

Then something special happened. They scored three runs without a home run, the last two coming in a very unSoxlike manner. In fact, it was the way the Twins typically put away a game against the Sox. Sox are up 4-2 with the bases loaded. Hall hits a slow grounder that was gloved by SS. He throws to 2B and Uribe took out the second baseman with Torri Hunter-type authority. It was the first time I enthusiatically cheered the Sox for their effort and fire in ages. Then the next play results in a Twins error and another run. 6-2 Sox, which after a nice 9th inning by Jenks was the final score. Great ending to a well played game by the Sox.

nice to see Dye finding his rhythm again after the injury benched him. He did not look good in minny or canada. When he swings compact it's a beautiful thing to watch.
