July 7, 200322 yr According to The SCORE, Esteban Loaiza was FIRST in AL player balloting for SP ESTEBAN FOR AL ALLSTAR STARTING PITCHER!
July 7, 200322 yr For those of you who like fun facts: The last time a White Sox pitcher started the All Star Game was 1959. I shouldn't have to tell you it was also the last time the Sox did something else.
July 7, 200322 yr When is his last start before the All-Star game. That will have more of an impact on whether he starts than how many votes he got.
July 7, 200322 yr Author When is his last start before the All-Star game. That will have more of an impact on whether he starts than how many votes he got. Probably Friday against the Tribe

July 7, 200322 yr I don't mind if he starts or sits in the bullpen all game. Sure, I'd love to see a Sox guy start, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
July 7, 200322 yr Probably Friday against the Tribe E-Lo is slated to start Thursday's game against the Tigers.
July 7, 200322 yr he better b starting Personally.. I'd rather he finish. To be the WP is better then being the starter, IMO.
July 7, 200322 yr Personally.. I'd rather he finish. To be the WP is better then being the starter, IMO. Why can't he be both?
July 7, 200322 yr Eh, who cares. Its just an overhyped exhibition game. What do you mean? I thought "This Time It Counts."
July 7, 200322 yr Has that ever happened..? Can't recall specific instances, but I would guess that it has happened many times.
July 7, 200322 yr Author Can't recall specific instances, but I would guess that it has happened many times. '83 maybe ? That was a total AL ass kicking and the GS from Fred Lynn came early in the game..... if memory serves correct.
July 7, 200322 yr Yeah, but the starter has to go 5 innings and I doubt very much that that has happened.
July 7, 200322 yr Yeah, but the starter has to go 5 innings and I doubt very much that that has happened. That's what I mean. I've never seen the starter go more then 2.
July 7, 200322 yr I heard on radio that Loz will indeed get the start. Not sure if its confirmed though.
July 8, 200322 yr The 5 inning rule is waived in the ASG. I remember Steve Stone starting and pitching 3 perfect innings the year he won his Cy Young. Never saw anyone pitch more than 3.
July 8, 200322 yr According to The SCORE, Esteban Loaiza was FIRST in AL player balloting for SP ESTEBAN FOR AL ALLSTAR STARTING PITCHER! He was first by a large margin. 318-264 over Halliday.
July 8, 200322 yr Looking at Halladay's record and ERA, I wouldn't have a big b**** if he starts. If the game was being played at a neutral site I could see him getting the start. But, Since the game is in Chicago I think having someone on the mound who is comfortable there, familiar, etc. should give him the edge over Halladay. Because "This time it counts"
