Phils extend Brad Lidge

from mlbtraderumors.com

Ken Mandel of mlb.com reports the extension is for 3-years, $37.5 MM with a club option for 2012 and performance incentives. A good deal for both sides considering the going rate for elite closers. Lidge has yet to blow a save this year.

Man, I would be really worried about throwing this kind of money at Lidge after seeing him completely lose it in Houston after Pujols massive homerun shot in the 05 playoffs. Sure, Lidge has been nails this year, but he has proven that he can lose it just like that.

Bobby Jenks is loving life. Arb-eligible and closers getting 8 figures bodes well for his wealth.

They will regret this move, for sure.I sure as hell wouldnt want him coming to close a playoff game and that is what its all about.

Lidge for Michael Bourn.

Awesome trade Wade.

Who knew that all a guy struggling mentally needed to get back on track was a change of scenery to that place where the fans are so friendly, Philadelphia?

that is a horrible contract, no clue what phillies were thinking

You've got to be friggin kidding me?!?......$12.5M a year for Lidge?

that's just wrong.
