People that aren't racists like his "American Dream" story and see him as American for it while racists (expectedly) don't. Nothing too interesting, really. Racists prefer the white guy, cool. Agree. I don't believe it could empirically proven, but I am fairly certain that if he was white and named Joe Smith he would not have had so much skepticism about his past. But with that said, being black and having a funny name are part of what makes Barack, Barack. Had he not been black (or half black rather) he probably would be a different person...so this is all way too hypothetical. His appearance and ancestry play a tremendous role here, though. I would want to know if a candidate is going to directly cause me peril at my place of work. If I work in pornography and Mitt Romney plans to ban it, I would like to know about this. Then the onus is on me to verify what my employer says, just like anything I hear anywhere else. If the employers want to somehow leverage people's jobs to bundle votes, then they can get in trouble as they should. Jake Posted October 19, 2012 Share Posted October 19, 2012 I have absolutely no clue what Mitt Romney would try to do as President nor do I have any idea what his true positions are nor am I sure which of those things will influence the way he acts as President. I know that he has a Congress to reckon with that makes him fairly unimportant in many regards, and that in the things that are purely Presidential I don't believe in him at all. I do not want this guy talking to foreign dignitaries or even speaking on television where people outside the USA could see it. I also think he would let his party run over him to trample on women's rights, gay civil rights, and the like. Scary. I will hope he does well if he gets it, but I won't be putting my money on it. Luckily he could take office right in the middle of an economic recovery that will very likely make whoever serves the next term look very good.
