Wouldn't it be an amazing story if Botch was a Eckersly in reverse? Struggling reliever becomes a 20 game winner as a starter. Ahh I can dream, I am a Sox fan.

July 9, 200322 yr Josh Stewart or Jon Rauch would be the logical canditates to me, or Matt Ginter if we need an extra reliever.
July 9, 200322 yr I don't think they will call up Cotts because he is pitching the Sunday all-future stars game, or whatever they call it, and he is on the AA all-star team. That's more important for him right now then to use him for one big league game. We have pitchers at the AAA level they can call up if they need another starter for just one game.
July 9, 200322 yr I think the Sox should call up their minor leaguers more often. We hardly get a chance to see those guys. Give them a chance or two and see how they do up in the big leagues. Some guys are just not ready (see: Borchard), but with guys like Cotts, whos tearing up AA, it cant really hurt, can it?

July 9, 200322 yr I would be surprised to see it happen, strictly because that means putting Cotts on the 40-man before they need to. It could happen, however. I heard the same little rumbling last week. If he pitches Saturday, obviously he would not pitch in the Futures Game on Sunday. I think Stewart should get the call, but I don't think a spot start and then rturn trip to AA would hurt Cotts. I don't think it hurt Wells either. Calling Wells up for good too soon is what hurt him.

I think that Jon Garland is finally learning how to succeed at the big league level, it's just a damn shame that the Sox can't score more than 3 runs for him...... Now for Kipper and Danny Wright.....well......I think they were both ready to come up too..... CWSOX45

Yup.... or at least until they are convince he can contribute day in and day out and not just here and there. I'll say this and you can write it in ink..... Neal Cotts is NOT ready for the Majors right now. Could he go up there and have success in the short term? Very possibly. But he is not ready to be a Major League pitcher and the Sox know this.
