The Twins will face pitchers like R.A. Dickey, Miguel Batista, etc., while we'll be getting Verlander as well as Boston's 4 main guys.

im not scared of Verlander

If we continue to pitch like this, we can lose to anyone.

The schedules are a wash. They play more road games. We play more games against winning teams.

 

The Twins have been playing better than the Sox for the last month and a half. In addition, they've always been a 2nd half team. I think the Sox have always had a worse 2nd half record every year under Ozzie.

I might buy the schedule argument if it was a decent offense shellacking them the last 2 games, and not the Royals.

im saying we go 13-6...lets be positive. Everyone has a bad stretch especially with our 5th starter, 3rd basemen, and set up guy out at the same time

The twins will be bad on the road..period, even in seattle. That team is the benefactor of a hard turf surface, weird defensive backdrop, and uncomfortable hitting backdrop for opposing hitters. Their defense plays so far back in the dome b/c every hit base hit is a rocket off the turf so they cut down what are sure to be extra base hits, they bunt and sacrifice a lot and then get turn ground outs and singles into extra base hits at home b/c they knock the ball intentionally hard on the turf, and every twins pitcher has horrid road ERA's and stellar Home ERA's b/c other hitters aren't used to the strange backdrop at the dome. If you remove all that the twins are an OK team with some talent in the middle of the lineup and back end of the bullpen but thats about it. If they play a majority of their games on the road they will .500 at best, but are more like .400 or even .350 road team. In July they went to boston and got swept, they went to yankee stadium and got swept, they went to Cleveland and lost 2 out of 3. They play well at their weird dome and play bad on the road, thats the twins and its no secret. Its up to the sox to now take advantage of being at home. I think most of us would agree the sox hit a ton of balls at Det, KC, and Minn that looked like for sure extra base hits and HR's at home, but were rather easy outs in those road parks. This team needs to pitch better for sure, but you will see the sox offense be a whole lot more productive at home, thats the kind of team they have (they suck in those large outfield parks).

Twins have been without Neshek, Cuddyer, and Liriano for most of the season, and their catalyst Casilla is now out. This is where having players in your minors that can come up and contribute right away is extremely important.

If we don't pitch better, it won't matter where we play at.

I think our offense will be solid on this homestand. But damn has our pitching been HORRIBLE! If they continue to pitch this way, we may be 4-5 games back by the end of this homestand.

I actually think the Twins problem this year is that they had better players waiting in the wings but they wanted to go with s***ty veterans instead; in some regard, it was to limit the playing time, and in others, it was probably just a failure in determining how good their own players actually were. How can you defend the Monroe, Livan, and Lamb signings? They signed Adam Everett to start at SS for them, but he's merely a late inning defensive replacement now a days as Nick Punto is their everyday SS (who is apparently a good hitter again, which is a big WTF?!).

 

I also don't think losing Neshek was that big of a loss...Nathan, Reyes, Guerrier, and Crain have all had plenty of success before, though Crain being as good as he has been this shortly after surgery is pretty incredible. And nothing they ever do surprises me with their bullpen...Gardenhire might be the best bullpen manager in all of baseball.

The twinkies have 21 games remaining in the dome and 30 on the road we have 30 games at home and 22 on the road true we have about 14 with good teams they have about 6 + us. this is going to have to be a terific home stand.. we can take the lead here and we have to keep it.
