Mark questions Gavin's toughness

"If anything, Gavin might be a guy that's affected," Buehrle said. "Danks is so laid-back, nothing seems to bother him. Where Floyd, it seems that a little bit more gets to him. A bigger situation or game might get him more nervous, but Danks isn't a guy I worry about."

Maybe Mark should worry about his own mental toughness, instead of Gavin's. All Gavin has done all year is stop the bleeding. Mark's ruptured the vein on multiple counts.

Sorry, s*** like this just pisses me off. Mark opening his mouth about Gavin's mental toughness serves no purpose, and could only have one outcome scenario.

Like I said, this isn't a new article but it is from this year

mmmm, diggin up quotes for controversy after the fact

Iam not sure I quite understand. You are digging up an article for only God knows when it was written and calling out Mark who has a history of having the strongest character and reputation on the Sox ball club?

Questioning how any rookie will respond is natural. Looking a behavioral clues based on temperament and other characteristics is also natural. I'm not too worked up over someone like Mark doing it.

And if you look at any Floyd related thread from 2007 through June 2008, Soxtalk posters did nothing but question Floyd's mental toughness. Mark said something that is something everyone wondered about Gavin Floyd, and Gavin is responding like a true competitor. Some people need a little kick in the behind to put them into another mode.

I don't disagree with the substance of Mark's comments- Gavin does look like a deer in the headlights quite often- however, I agree with the original poster. If anyone's mental toughness could be questioned, first in line for me would be Mark Buehrle. He cannot pitch over errors and hasn't pitched like the guy we signed him to be. Not that he still isn't a very solid pitcher. But he just isn't the guy with the killer instinct at the top of your rotation you need down the stretch and during a playoff run.

This seems to be a consensus about Floyd, or at least not just Mark, I should say

I heard Matt Thornton on the Score once, and he was asked a bunch of questions. Amongst them: "If the whole team was stranded on a desert island, who would be eaten first?"

Without missing a beat, Thornton said "Gavin Floyd."

Obviously it's a joke, but it's a way of saying he's the nicest guy on the team. Or maybe least aggressive.

In any event, Buehrle can be a tough guy all he wants, but I'd rather he have Floyd's stuff right now than his own mindset.

Mark has since taken it back based on Gavin's preformances. This.Story.Is.Dead.
