I'd like to connect my laptop to my cable or sat system without going through a cable box. Is it possible?

What he said. I think Slingbox is the only wireless option, as well. But the Slingbox has to connect to the cable box.

I also have the option to just attach to my cable outlet. I was looking at the Pinnacle PCTV HD Ultimate Stick but it wasn't clear if I needed to hook up through the cable set top box or not. And, gee what a surprise, the Best Buy clerk was not too much help.

I like the Slingbox recommendation.

I'm going to be doing that pretty soon myself.

Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I've seen some pretty good deals on newegg.com

I remember when tin foil used to be the cure all.
