The preseason polls are out, Baseball America came out with theirs today, so I figured I would start this thread because I have nothing else to do until my next class in an hour. Baseball America Top 25

 

For some reason Mizzou is #10. Can't say I can rationalize that, but hopefully they are right. I don't think A&M is a #1 team either, but they are usually pretty solid. Jason's Fullerton is top 5 again. The USC of baseball, team is ridiculous. Anyway, once the season starts hopefully some of our insiders will be able to dish out some interesting stuff.

Its going to be interesting to see what my Titans can do.

Man, I'm going to miss watching Buster Posey play. However, I can't wait to see our new guys step up and fill the positions we lost from last season. I'm also looking for big seasons from Jason Stidham ( JR SS/2B) and Stuart Tapley (SO 3B). D'vontrey Richardson will be back in the OF too, so that should be fun. I don't think a trip to Omaha is in the future, but I did not think that would happen at the beginning of last season either. It all depends on how many guys will step up.

 

It's really weird not seeing Miami in the Top 25. I know they lost a lot of talent, but you got to think that they'll be ok.

One thing is for certain though, I can't wait until February 20.

There are two reasons I'm excited about College Baseball starting. 1) I'm interested to see the turn-around Tennessee can make. We were pretty bad last year, but a lot of people around here are saying the team is going to be a lot better, so we'll see. If anything, I always enjoy going to a Friday afternoon game when I get out of class. Always a nice, relaxing way to start the weekend... 2) I can't wait to see what Matt Packer (P) from Virginia can do. He led the nation in ERA last year and is a name to look out for. I also may have some interest in the guy since he's a friend of mine, lol.

I'm still upset about the choke job we did last season in the CWS.

 

Going to be an interesting season. Team is built around pitching and we lost our number two guy in Erickson. Good lefty but he cant stay healthy.

 

Not many are expecting much from Miami this year but we've had some of our best seasons when we were overlooked.

Surprised ASU is ranked that high....they are YOUNG!!!! Lot's of very good young talent...but very young. And there pitching staff past Leake is a little iffy.

Wow, only suspended the first four games against UIC.

 

I heard Locke was kicked off the team. I haven't seen any news articles on this, but he isn't on the roster on their site anymore. I got to give O'Sullivan credit for doing this to their best pitcher.

Maybe O'Sullivan will finally turn that program around.

 

It really baffles me on how UF isnt a premier baseball school in the nation. FSU owns that part of Florida and south Georgia. Miami basically owns all of south Florida and UF couldnt cherry pick the best players from north,central and both coasts for some reason. UF would always go after the top tier players from Florida and California and when those guys got drafted, UF was left scrambling for leftovers.

Opening Day. I just remembered Fresno State won the national title last year. Wow.

Kansas had their pitcher throw a no-no to start the season.

A young fullerton team (5th in the country) is now 1-1 after they lost a late game against TCU. Hopefully they can get the win Sunday so they are 2-1 heading into what should be a tough midweek game vs SDSU and than a home series against Stanford (which I'll definately be at).

Noles swept Hofstra this weekend. The team definitely is not as good as last year, but hopefully some of the young guys will step up.

 

 

Fullerton is 1-2 with a shot to be even worse after some other tough games this week (@ SDSU, Vs Stanford for 3).

Miami @ Florida this weekend.

 

Going to be a telling series for us because we've got a lot of newcomers. 2 JUCOs and 2 freshman currently start in our lineup. Might have some growing pains offensively for the first few weeks.

 

Would love to take 2 games but I think we'll go 1-2 this weekend.

Tyler Holt just hit an inside the park home run. That kid has some wheels.

Nice little shout-out to my high school after Danesh got that hit.

I like Danesh a lot. All of his hits seem to be ropes. He has to be one of the most unheralded guys on the team.

 

Parker is frustrating. I don't know if its just his focus, but he has times where he losses all command.

His sister was pretty hot back in high school back in 99. Danesh though is a really solid player. Guy has a nice swing and just gets hit after hit.

 

Is Parker the number 1?

For now yes, but we all know Martin isn't afraid to shake things up. I bet Gast will take over the number 1 slot at some point this season if Parker keeps struggling like this.

 

Holts inside the park home run has been now rules a 3B and an error.

Woot. Meschke walk-off single. Like Ohmed, all he does is hit liners.

 

I like Busch a lot, but 11 left him in way to long that game.

I missed the Auburn comeback b/c I was watching the Miami basketball game but atleast FSU came back to win.
