February 9, 200917 yr I'd like to propose a sponsorship of Carlos Quentin's page on Baseball Reference by the posters of Soxtalk.com. It's only $35 total for one year and everyone who contributes will have their screenname included in the sponsorship. That's like 3 or 4 bucks a person maybe. If you are interested, post here and I will PM you with details.
February 10, 200917 yr Author I bought Quentin's page for one year, thanks to those who are donating!
February 10, 200917 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) I bought Quentin's page for one year, thanks to those who are donating! What are the benefits of sponsoring his page?
February 10, 200917 yr I imagine recognition for Soxtalk and a contibution in support of Baseball-Reference. Two great causes, if you ask me
February 10, 200917 yr Author We're promoting Soxtalk on the #1 sports reference site on the internet via the most godlike player in recent Sox history.
February 10, 200917 yr Author QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) Sorry, the obvious benefit went right over my head... It's more cross-promotion and donation.
February 10, 200917 yr I would donate to the cause but I don't have a credit card or paypal, and I'm not going to send money via. the mail. However, it'd be cool if we could get thebaseballcube.com's sponsorship of TCQ.

February 10, 200917 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Why not? I send money orders all the time. Honestly, I'm a Neanderthal and really don't know how to even get a money order and go about sending it. I am still a minor (for a few more days), so I have an excuse at least. February 10, 200917 yr Author QUOTE (BearSox @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 10:15 PM) Honestly, I'm a Neanderthal and really don't know how to even get a money order and go about sending it. I am still a minor (for a few more days), so I have an excuse at least. Go to the Post Office, a drug store, a grocery store, a Walmart, a 7-11, and go to the service desk and ask to buy one. They cost between 75 cents and 2 dollars depending where you go.
February 10, 200917 yr Author There's a chance that later in the season that Soxtalk could "adopt" another Sox player if there's one available and there's interest.
February 10, 200917 yr I'd do this. I'll have to just send cash to someone, though, as I don't have a paypal account and don't want to use my card for this. Edited February 10, 200917 yr by Milkman delivers

February 10, 200917 yr Maybe i should start thinking about sponsoring Michael Dubee's page on Minor League Reference. I want to beat the rush
February 10, 200917 yr QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) Maybe i should start thinking about sponsoring Michael Dubee's page on Minor League Reference. I want to beat the rush that'd be like buying stock in google before anyone had any idea what the hell it was.
February 10, 200917 yr Author QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 10, 2009 -> 12:26 AM) I would love to work on getting real sponsors to advertise this page. How do you mean?
February 10, 200917 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) How do you mean? Call up local companies and have them run ads on this page to make money for the site. Who knows, this crew can turn this operation into a national concept.
February 10, 200917 yr QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Call up local companies and have them run ads on this page to make money for the site. Who knows, this crew can turn this operation into a national concept. Its been kicked around at various times, and the concensus is that we like things the way that they are. The bills are paid pretty much by what is out there, and we like being independant of all outside influence.
