If this was July and the Twins had Mauer, this game might have been a little different. But a win's a win and at least we know Bartolo can pitch.

 

BTW, I liked Lillibridge (good patience at the plate, put down a good bunt) and Fields continues to impress.

Good job from the offense. This obviously isn't the same Liriano of the past. In fact, he looks rather mediocre now. I guess it won't difficult anymore to answer the question of"Where's our Liriano," because it seems he has become a #3/#4 starter with 6 mph knocked off his fastball.

I don't mind the all righty lineup thought it was curious timing , but thats why they play the games. Gonna need contributions from everyone. It's a long season. Is that enough cliches for everyone ?

What's this supposed to mean? It wasn't July when they scored 12 runs Friday. And as good as Mauer is, I feel safe in saying his presence in the lineup yesterday wouldn't have mattered much. Bartolo got the job done. End of story.

The radar gun had AJ`s tossbacks at 105, so I wouldn`t put to much stock in those 90+ readings, but he did pitch well.

First off, without the additional velocity he 'looks' mediocre. This obviously isn't the same pitcher of the past. Our team doesn't hit around 2006 Liriano like this.

 

Secondly, unless FOX had issues with the radar readout he never exceeded 91mph. Last season he was consistently around 94-95 in the second half.

 

 

 

Liriano is still good, real good... but no you'll never get 2006 Liriano again. His pitches don't have as much movement, he doesn't have that same amazing sliders he did before. Still REAL good, but yeah not the Liriano of old.
