I think his parents are from Mexico. Loiza was all bent out of shape about it I beleive.

As a Mexican-American,I do know spanish but I have cousins who know very little or no spanish at all,it's not that uncommon.

Loaiza being from Tijuana one would think he'd be even more understanding of that fact than someone who had a strictly Spanish speaking upbringing.
