Giving up the long ball

Featured Replies

From last Sunday through 5 1/3 of todays game vs. Cleveland, our staff has given up 11 homers. That is obscene.

It seemed like we rarely gave up homers at all last year.

If not for 2005, I'd say 2008 was the luckiest season I had ever seen for a Sox team in the last 20 years. There's nothing wrong with luck, but I think it gave us a lot of false hope with certain players.

In a number of ways, yes. But the Sox had a ton of bad luck last year as well, in the form of season-ending injuries to Quentin, Contreras, Crede, and Linebrink. Paulie was beat up for most of last season, and his numbers show it. Swish was also unusually awful.

In addition to giving up the long ball, our offense isn't scoring runs against mediocre/bad pitching this year. That's a bad sign. At this rate, Dye and Dotel will be gone by the end of next month.

We should get Alex Sinnellias to donate for every visitor HR because we are being out homered every series in our own park

In loving memory of Ursula.

If they promised not to bean you or plunk you in the knee, which pitchers in MLB would you most rather pick up a bat against in an attempt to get a hit?

I'd say Colon and Contreras would be at the top of the my list.

Oops, I forgot Gobble.

1.) Gobble. 2.) Jose. 3.) Colon. 4.) Ponson (actually Colon and Ponson are the same guy). 6. Rich Hill.

Give me your candidates to dig in against.

I don't think anyone should be surprised that Cleveland can hit. Its disappointing that we couldn't do more to hit them.

I can't say 2005 was the luckiest season. We saw numerous offensive players play below there career numbers and our pitchers were good. We had a great staff.
