November 20, 200916 yr Well, that was fun. Hjalmarsson turned that game around with that hit. Great start to the circus trip.
November 20, 200916 yr on a side note, Huet with 5 wins in a row, allowing 9 goals over that time period. Me likey
November 20, 200916 yr Author Sounds as if Hossa is going to play on Wednesday according to the Tribune. If we can go above .500 on this road trip, it's really going to set-up our season as a top 4 team in the West as it did last season. Last night was the perfect start, and probably the best the Hawks have played this season so far.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) Jesus... what a beating. Anyone see that sick pass from Kane to set up Versteeg? Awesome. Kane has been just incredible since Toews got his concussion. The kid hit three posts, last night, not to mention his playmaking. So much for the crap about letting him walkaway after his adventures with cab drivers in the off season.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 08:39 AM) Kane has been just incredible since Toews got his concussion. The kid hit three posts, last night, not to mention his playmaking. So much for the crap about letting him walkaway after his adventures with cab drivers in the off season. He's been our best player so far. His vision and his precision on these passes lately have been insane. He's going to be worth every penny for the next 5+ years. He has to be in the MVP race, along with guys like Iginla, Craig Anderson, Heatley, and of course Crosby.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) on a side note, Huet with 5 wins in a row, allowing 9 goals over that time period. Me likey he's 5th in the league with a 2.17 GAA. His save % is .907 which is like 24th in the league, not to knock him, but shows how well our defense is playing and keeping the number of opponents shots low khabi has a 3.03 GAA
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 19, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) Jesus... what a beating. Anyone see that sick pass from Kane to set up Versteeg? Awesome. Those guys have unbelievable chemistry on the ice.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) he's 5th in the league with a 2.17 GAA. November 20, 200916 yr Huet is doing what he needs to do, keep his team in the game. He is being paid to win games but he only needs to keep them in it and not lose. Teams will have to defend the Hawks and will be back on their heels thus the offensive rushes should be few and far between. The supporting cast lit it up last night which they will do more often as the top defensive pairings will have to play Toews/Kane. The defense 1 through 6 is as good as anyone. The Swedish Hammer (I love that name) could be as good as Keith which would be sick. Nice to see Ladd light the lamp. I'd also like to see Versteeg stay at C. He Kane and Hossa coudl scare the s*** out of teams especially on the PP. With Brower playing better or BYf a second or first line of Sharp/Towes could be sick. This team is looking scary right now.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) Hossa has been skating with Toews and Kane in practice... commence drooling. Q will have Hossa, Kane and Toews all on different lines to start and then put them together when he thinks it will be advantagous throughout the game.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) Hossa has been skating with Toews and Kane in practice... commence drooling. I prefer to spread the wealth... and keep Kaner and Steeger together.
November 20, 200916 yr From ESPN Insider: 10:47AM ET Ottawa Senators Top Email Senators GM Bryan Murray has had conversations with Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman, probably about a potential trade, according to SenShots. With the Blackhawks having to unload salary before announcing the signings of Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane, they are likely trying to dump one of their high-priced veterans. Brian Campbell is a possibility but, as we wrote earlier, Cam Barker is more likely. SenShots predicts the Senators will send back Alexandre Picard, Ryan Shannon and a draft pick.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) From ESPN Insider: If they could unload Campbell, things would be awesome.
November 20, 200916 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) If they could unload Campbell, things would be awesome. if they can shed that contract, the next 5 years at the least would be set for awesomeness (not that they aren't already looking good)
November 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) if they can shed that contract, the next 5 years at the least would be set for awesomeness (not that they aren't already looking good) It opens up worlds of flexibility for them. I just can't see anyone taking him without dumping their own bad contract on us.
November 21, 200916 yr Do you take the chance and buy him out for 60% of the contract? Lower the cap hit to $2.4 mil and stretch it out over double the years of the contract? I think you give him away for nothing. If Bowman can pull this off...he should get Executive of the Decade.
November 21, 200916 yr Also...Breaking News: EDMONTON, Alberta--Andrew Ebbett, who has been a healthy scratch the last two games, wasn't on the ice during the Blackhawks' practice Friday afternoon in Edmonton and reportedly has been placed on waivers. During the broadcast of the Montreal-Washington game, TSN reported Ebbett has been waived. The forward has a goal in 12 games with the Hawks this season. He was claimed off waivers by the Hawks from the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 17. The Hawks take on the Oilers on Saturday night in the second game of their six-game road trip.
November 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) Ebbett won't be missed if someone claims him. Minnesota Wild claimed him today.
November 21, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Minnesota Wild claimed him today. I assume that was a move to make room for Hossa's return.
November 22, 200916 yr QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 21, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Minnesota Wild claimed him today. THat doesn't bother me at all. There was just nothing about his game that screamed at you. He was very meh.
November 22, 200916 yr Yeah, Patrick Kane is really good at hockey. His 9 game point streak now is the 2nd longest currently. He's on pace for something like 32+ goals and 52+ assists.
November 22, 200916 yr 12 goals in the first 2 of the circus trip. Yeah, I'll take it. Hopefully it keeps up in Vancouver tomorrow.
