What was Josh Fields' peak value?

Featured Replies

Does anyone remember specific trades that were rumored with Fields involved? Back when he was a good piece that is.

Kenny at least loved that particular prospect a bit too much.

Was Fields ever a part of the Soriano deal. I know Bmac did, but don't remember Fields.

Josh Fields for Scott Linebrink was talked about a lot when our bullpen was struggling in 2006-2007.

baha. Looks like we won out on that one. We got em both!!

end of 07 was probably absolute peak for Fields

Yeah, I'd agree, end of '07

i think he might have been one of the centerpieces in the miguel cabrera deal

Fields was supposedly the centerpiece, or one of the centerpieces, in the Miguel Cabrera trade. IIRC Gio, Danks, and Sweeney were also involved. In hindsight, the Marlins would have been better off taking the Sox package because Johnny Danks alone is a lot better than anything they got. Glad the Sox didn't offer to take on DTrain though.

Great question.

We could do a top 10 list of prospects that Kenny kept, but should have traded when they had value.

On the other hand, also a top 10 list of prospects that he dealt to other teams that never worked out for their new teams.

I have to think he would come out ahead over all.

Another question, what could we get for Fields now?

A kegger of Heinie and some new bats.

Sure, maybe we could have got more for him... but I'll take getting one of the best set-up men in baseball in return for that hot garbage any day.

Ya - I kind of like our return on that one.

Most of the other guys listed wouldn't even have been able to net this.
