Maggs back to Chicago?

Featured Replies

David Kaplan says he heard a Milton Bradley for Maggs swap is being talked about. Detroit wants Bradley at DH.

That would be interesting, would help out the cubs a good amount

It would be a huge lift for them to dump that horrible deal.

Maggs and Bradley are both having bad seasons. But this deal would help the Cubs tremendously. Bradley fits in perfectly in MoTown.

The trade would dump two years of salary, which the Cubs need desperately right now.

Surely Maggs' option would vest. Are their contracts really all that different?

From Stoneys twitter the Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said something along the line that 'wouldn't want him on my team'

Yeah, he'd get there with ease. He's only 146 PA away from guaranteeing himself $18M next year and if the trade were made today and he got 4 PA a game over the Cubs' final 67 games of the season he'd finish with 579 PA on the year, that means he'd need only 501 PA next year to guarantee himself another $15M in 2011. Bradley's due $21M in '10/'11, the $6.5M - $7.5M still due to Magglio this year and the $18M he'd make next year would lead to a net financial loss for the Cubs even while subtracting a year of salary (assuming no cash trades hands).

Smartest thing he's said in a while.

Stone had this on his Twitter, and is now in a war of words with some guy from the Daily Herald who accuses Stone of making up the whole story

In detroit for the series. Understand a guy named bruce miles believes that the whole bradley story was made up. Who is bruce miles.

The giants need a hitter to make a run at the wildcard. Word out is that the nats nick johnson might fill their needs. Chase that down bruce

LOL

This was a dumb rumor it appears.

Why would anybody want Bradley? He's another Jose Guillen. At least Maggs doesn't cause problems.

Sounds like a Cub fantasy trade. Cubs are like the NHL Maple Leafs...lots hype, players always want to play for them, they will get all the best deals, fans are ridiculous (in their own unique ways) and they have nothing to show for all their largesse.
