July 31, 200916 yr How come I don't know any of the Twins' prospects? Edit: Guy they got is a 2nd round pick from last year. Looks like Billy Beane got a fair deal. Edited July 31, 200916 yr by chw42
July 31, 200916 yr Our two biggest rivals are getting better today... lets see if KW does anything to make us better. Only what, less than 3 hours left?
July 31, 200916 yr It will look bad now if the KW, who has the reputation for making moves, stands pat while Twins and Tigers improve in areas they needed to.

For this year, yes. I'm usually down for trader KW, but I don't know about this team this year. I think he can make better deals to improve the team in the long run by standing pat and waiting for the offseason with the farm and the cleared payroll space
July 31, 200916 yr Cabrera fits very well on turf. Ground ball hitter meets turf = higher batting average. Our two rivals just got better with barely above average players that fit the needs of their home field.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) What would a 34 yr old Rolen cost in trade? It's looking like the Jays wanting something back along the lines of Yonder Alonso.
July 31, 200916 yr I really like this trade for Oakland. O-Cab cannot be offered arbitration after this year so the Twins will get no pick from him after the year ends. Ladendorf was a second round pick last year so he must have potential. Edited July 31, 200916 yr by GO CHI SOX!
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) What would a 34 yr old Rolen cost in trade? That would require a change of position for Gordon Beckham. In other words, it ain't happening.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) Cabrera REALLY improves them up the middle. They can have Harris play 2B. I'd like to see your explanation on this. Harris has been better defensively than Cabrera, and now he is moving to a faster surface. They have also been about equal offensively. I dont see this as an upgrade at all.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Enjoy that clubhouse cancer Twinkies Exactly.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Enjoy that clubhouse cancer Twinkies It didn't stop the Red Sox, Angels or White Sox winning when he was around. He is a douchebag, no question, but he is a huge upgrade for them although his glove has slipped this year. Just be thankful the Twins made that trade for Delmon Young. Bartlett and Garza would look very good on the Twins.
July 31, 200916 yr the only thing that gets me excited about the White Sox this year is the SP. If they could back into the playoffs with Floyd, Danks and MB firing they would be a tough out
July 31, 200916 yr Cabrera's been atrocious on defense this year. UZR of -7.9. His Range Runs is a -6. He's really showing his age.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) It didn't stop the Red Sox, Angels or White Sox winning when he was around. He is a douchebag, no question, but he is a huge upgrade for them although his glove has slipped this year. Just be thankful the Twins made that trade for Delmon Young. Bartlett and Garza would look very good on the Twins. I heard the Red Sox were looking into getting him as well, and he made it clear he did NOT wish to return to Boston. What player have you ever heard say that, besides maybe a Yankee? Sounds like he causes trouble wherever he goes...

July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) I heard the Red Sox were looking into getting him as well, and he made it clear he did NOT wish to return to Boston. What player have you ever heard say that, besides maybe a Yankee? Sounds like he causes trouble wherever he goes... Giles turned down a deal to the Red Sox last year

Bartlett and Garza would look very good on the Twins. Thats what I dont get, how is he an upgrade? He is a downgrade defensively and offensively he is about the same as the guy he is replacing. Frankly, if this means less of Nick Punto, I see this as a win for the White Sox.
July 31, 200916 yr i don't see this as a big deal, but it might help the psyche of the Twins. Apparently Morneau and Mauer made it known they were pissed that no deals were in the works to go for it this season.
July 31, 200916 yr Its funny, I keep having this illogical reaction to these deals, where I want KW to do something. Then I realize, I am not sure what the team could even use at this point. Therefore, I'd like him to go big (Peavy-level big), or stand pat.
July 31, 200916 yr QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:32 PM) Apparently Morneau and Mauer made it known they were pissed that no deals were in the works to go for it this season. After watching him play defense, they will be even more pissed. Unless they move him to second. His bat will help.
