Red Sox @ White Sox, 7:11PM, WCIU

Fields has actually become pretty patient. It's too bad that his patience just leads to an eventual strike out.

Good to kill Boston in Game One. If there are a lot of Red Sox fans in the Cell, this completely shut em up

for the first night.

Hudson doing good, but I have to say I was hoping to see him start one of the upcoming games. Probbaly not going to happen now

dont get WCIU here at college :( how is hudson looking?

Really looking forward to seeing more Mr. Hudson in the future...

Daniel Hudson mowin' em down.

Gameday has his fastball sitting 94-95 and he's throwing strikes and changing speeds.

92-94 on the fastball, good sink, shaky control so far.

Hudson threw 24 pitches. 17 strikes. That's pretty good control.

Left too many soft pitches high for my liking.

I heard that Jorge. That was interesting to hear.

Twice if he was awake

Well, I'm sure he saw some of Flowers in spring training. I just am pretty skeptical about seeing a guy a few times and then determining that he has this singular trait that you've only seen one other guy have.

I had no idea that Hudson was as funky as he is. He almost has a three-quarters slot and wings the ball in there. Will they leave him in to get the save?

Let's hope it won't come down to getting a save.

Gotcha, Jhonny Nunez in.

Nix>Getz, and I don't think it's even close.

Not even close huh?

Great win.

Good present for Hawk on his b-day.

Freddy was good, Hudson with a nice debut, offense tee'd off that pervert Paul Byrd.

Getz haters. :booty

Alex Gonzalez has no walks in 70 odd plate appearances for the Red Sox this year.

Getz's OBP is approaching where it should be for him to start leading off. Keep it up.

Getz seems OK to me. No hate from him here.

I think he's better than Nix. Don't know where you come up with the fact that Nix is so much better it isn't even close. I'd take Getz over Nix.

don't stop getz it getz it

Their's a fairly significant disparity in numbers between the two that suggests that Nix is very much the better player, and by a wide margin. This is not to take anything away from what Getz did tonight. He looked very impressive out there.

There is when Nix faces lefties, yes. The problem is, it would be difficult to ever make Nix a full-time starter because his numbers are so much different when facing righties. I love Nix as much as anyone, but he is one player against lefties, and an entirely different one against righties. Meanwhile, Getz, who isn't at all amazing himself, has particular skills which standout because of their relative absence on this team.

I was all for Nix getting a full-time chance, and he just did. Did anyone walk away from the last three weeks thinking "Wow, Nix deserves a full-time gig?"

I'd say there is a fairly significant disparity in performance that suggests Getz is the better player.
